Great Bonuses!WOW!

Any nurses receiving great sign on bonuses and relocation assistance to CAL? I heard of Santa Barbara up to $6000 for a 2 year contract and $6000 relocation assistance! WOW!

The hospital in Thousand Oaks is offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for full-time RN's...not sure about the relocation assistance though.

You gotta watch out though. Some (although certainly not all) places have to offer bonuses because the place is a pit and nobody will work for them.

THousand oaks is a suburb of the LA area. Quite expensive if I recall correctly, but not too far from great amenities like beaches, amusement parks and night life. Some of the other nurses who live close may be able to tell you more...

Thousand Oaks is in southern Ventura County...very, very nice community. The cost of living is about the same as LA county. I am currently a travel nurse at that facility and the unit I work in is great (L&D). The hospital is a HCA facility and is union which I know can be a huge deterrant for many nurses. Working for HCA was a concern when I took the contract but I will admit the only issues I've had was not with the hospital itself but with their own travel agency (All About Staffing). Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Re: Great Bonuses!WOW!

I work graveyard shift in Thousand Oaks, but as a translator though. I'm starting Nursing school in January, 2007. I like the area because it's quite, peaceful, countryside with lovely rolling hills. I also hate it cos I can't find anywhere to eat after midnight. Not your vibrant, 24hr Los Angeles city life hehehehe
But, it's only about 30-40mins drive, northwest of Los Angeles and it's closer to the ocean than Los Angeles. I hope this helps a teeny bit

I went to school in Santa Barbara and I love it there.

Be aware that rents are expensive and availability of "affordable" apartments is tight. Your extra $12,000 could be eaten up in that 2 years by additional housing costs if you are looking for your own place.

That said, I love Santa Barbara! I'm overdue for a visit.
