Hello..........I am currently trying to get into Maric College San Diego's RDN program and I heard that the pre reqs there may not be transferable. Dpes anyone know if you can transfer to a 4-yr university right out of this program?? For an example can you get into State??

Any replies will help at this point!HELP!!!

I don't know about State, but at Cal State San Marcos' website, they went into a long explanation about how the credits from Maric College wouldn't transfer into their program. I would just call State to check. It seems like every school has their own standards.

i know that its not a traditional school, but after getting your adn from Maric, you couldgo to university of phoenix, i know its expensive as well, but i dont know of any other 4 year schools that will acceptcredits from maric.

I've heard that Maric credits only transfer to Univ of Phoenix. I've also heard that Maric ADN program grads have bad reputations at hospital (no offense to Maric grads) But then again, an RN is an RN. I think it depends on how hard a student works.

Maric is like Devry college, it is not a real college. (Its just a vocational school) The units you take there won't be transferable and you're paying about $30,000 a year in tuition when you could get it much cheaper elsewhere. I'd go to a legitimate CC if I were you.

Find out if its regionally accredited.
If it is, then yes it can be transfered to any university.
If not, then you need to find out if the 4-yr university you're planning on attending, will accept a degree from Maric.

At Maric they are nationally accredidated. The credits will transfer to any school that is nationally accredited. One is the University of Phoenix. The credits will also transfer to Kaplan University online, since they are a Kaplan school.

Your right a 4 year college won't take maric's credits but dude you can get in and out faster through phx university - you get what you pay for if your smart about what your buying. But you see employers want experience, and then they look at cert, lisc. and degrees. To persue a BSN they don't care if you went to a University from the state, as long as you got your degree and are professional, and have a solid experience. The skies are the limits - So do Maric, Phx or Kaplan those also school you in A masters of nursing in Science. - Don't waste your time with political application processes at the public level, or the waiting lists....We should all get our experience and try to set a better organized system for our children of tomorrow, so there is not shortage of healthcare in the future.

so you are basically saying that accreditation isnt important to you? I mean if all you want is an adn, then maric is perfect, you can get in and out, but what happens if you want to further your education? where would you go, besides university opf phoenix or kaplan, which are very expensive. Also Ive checked with every state and private school in sd and no one excepts those credits from maric. another thing is do you want to go into all of that debt. im with you and i wish it were that easy to just go to a school, become an rn and be the best.

Well at this point I am still considered a non resident, so I am paying a little less with the private schools. Another one I checked out is National University they are also accred. with the public schools. there credits will transfer, i did speak one on one with Cal State U, Nursing Dept on that. No I am not going to settle for my ASN, I also have my goals set to get my Masters of Nursing in Science-Nurse Practioner, and at this point where a waiting list is involved just to get into the cohorts to take the RN test is obsured, plus loosing time of work experience, no actual pay from nursing, seems senseless (when we have a nurse shortage, sort of ironic). I really don't freaking care if a school is accredited or recognized by another school, as long as the State Boards of Nursing recognizes that schooling/classes, to take the National RN Exam.remember if you get lics. in Cali or NY your lics is good to work in any state....

Plus yes they are expensive but if you map it out how long it will take a person to get through a "normal" college/university compared to the private/accelerated schooling, it will end up being about the same cost in the end. Time is money and Money is Time, plus the couple years of experience you are loosing because of sitting in a class with a boring professor or working a job you don't want because your on a waiting list. A person who gets through the curriculum faster and gets into the job force quicker, will be saving money if not breaking even when all is said and done then going through the schools that are Accredited with each other.

Don't get me wrong if all the accredited schools from state to state were more organized with the Nursing Programs....for RN then it wouldn't be such a hassel for all of us students...Especially if its a National Test? Once you get your lics you can transfer the lics. over from state to state..if you end up moving to another state..(thats what I was told by a nursing professor here.,because its a national test) I have an AA in business mang. and was going to persue a BSN in nursing cuz I did extra courses to get the nursing pre-reqs done. The accredidation means you get to go through all the bull-crap and it takes longer than a private school. Plus your done faster and when I spoke with the actual health dept advisors they gave me the speal on how the courses are set up, they rock not just sticking your nose in a book and remembering things its actually working with that knowledge and having you work with hands on experience with that information for your own community health field and reporting back on-line... Sorry but I m not a huge fan of the political bull-crap from the "normal school system".

At the end of the interview I can guarantee the mang. is not going to give you the job just because you went to an accredidated school, they are gonna give it to you because of experience, and professional answers and personality, and referrences. I ve also worked in Human Resources. So yes your are right I don't care if the school is accredidated with other schools....as long as the State board of Nurses recognizes the school to comply with their testings/lics. If its something that is important to you then you should go with what you feel is important for your life. sorry so long.
