Aesthetic/Medical Spa Nursing

Hi all! Does anyone know the salary of an RN working in the med spa setting?

I just graduated and passed the NCLEX...trying to decide if I want to work in a hospital setting or the med spa. It's not really about the $$, but if med spa RN's are making nothing near a "traditional" RN then I'd rather not apply. Thank you!!

Re: Aesthetic/Medical Spa Nursing

HELLO

I have heard that a MED/SPA Nurse can make around $30 & UP per Hour with the appropriate Training, Especially in The La Jolla area. I am interested in this myself. Where did or will you receive your Training? Please let me know, as I too am interested. I have heard that the training is Very Expensive, $1200-$1500 per class. I Hope You Find This Helpful. GOOD LUCK

Re: Aesthetic/Medical Spa Nursing

I suggest gaining some experience initially in a general setting (hospital, clinic, whereever), simply so you are comfortable with treatin patients, especially with injections (great skill to have when getting into aesthetic medicine).
While doing this, seek employment at a med spa that is hiring RN's in your area. Most larger med spa company's will have in house training.. therefore investing thousands of dollars to be trained on equipment that your future employer may not have or doing procedures according to your training instead of the medspa's protocol will be a HUGE mistake.
Be confident in being an RN and also at being a natural salesman of sorts (you'll be consulting pt's and in turn selling them on medical aesthetic treatments).

Pay comparison is relative. Your experience in the industry of nursing is a big factor, whether being a hospital rn, home care rn or aesthetic rn.
So get a job at both and see which you like, which one youre better at and eventually who will increase your pay the fastest.
;-)
Good luck

OH, JUST IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING:
** My current career (that i'll be putting on pause to seek a nursing degree this fall) is as a national Medical Aesthetic Management Consultant, specializing in medical business development, training, marketing, support and consultative sales training.

healthyhere, I've really appreciated all your input! Could you give us some input on the facilities you've worked with in California?

Re: Aesthetic/Medical Spa Nursing

Hi Healthyhere,
I am new to this websit and hoping to contact you.
I have been a RN for 20 years and also have my esthetic license.
I have not done anything w/ my esthetic license for 3 years- it is still current- but am really burned out from nursing and want to switch over to medical- I have been applying to jobs but not getting much response.
Do you have any suggestions??
Thanks much to anyone who replies
Kim
