Considering relocating to Marion AR

I am a graduate RN in upstate NY, and my husband has a job opportunity in Memphis. After doing some prelim. research on the area I'm leaning to Marion. It seems to be only a 30 min commute, decent priced homes. Are the closed hospitals in Memphis??
I have a 2yr old and 4yr old and am looking for a small town with good schools.
Any info would be helpful about this area. Thanks

Memphis has five major hospitals, The Med, which is located in the downtown area, about 20 from Marion,AR. Methodist central and the VA hospital are also in the downtown area. Baptist hospital has about 3 locations in memphis. And St.Francis which has two locations in the memphis area. I think Baptist is the highest paid, but rumor is that the pt. load is high also. Here's some links that should provide more details about each hospital.

Re: Considering relocating to Marion AR

Marion is a wonderful area to raise a family in. I have an 8 and a 10 year old that both attend Marion schools, and we love it! The school facilities are great, and the teachers are exceptional! Marion is a small close knit community, but close enough to Memphis to enjoy all the amenities of a big city. The commute to most hospitals is less than 30 minutes, with the exception of Baptist East and St. Francis. There is also a smaller hospital in West Memphis, about 4 miles from Marion, that has started to compete salary wise with the Memphis hospitals. I work at the hospital in West Memphis because I like the feel of a smaller work environment and due to the rising cost of gas. When interviewing for jobs, the offer I received for CRH was only .25 less than the offer I had from a Memphis hospital. I hope this helps, and good luck with the move!

Also LeBonheur Children's is in Memphis. Marion has great schools and affordable housing. We lived there for 5 years and I was very pleased w/the schools and town.
