I am looking forward to getting to work and may look into transfer to another floor after a year or so to get other experience in the hospital. Since the hospitals here (Warren, Monticello, Crossett) ship to Pine Bluff or Little Rock, I am looking forward to the opportunity I have at JRMC. Just dreading the drive....LOL
Great, cygni. I think you will enjoy JRMC. Some good people there.

When you need ACLS/ACLS EP/PALS, I might see ya.

Re: Bradley County Area questions

I've worked at Bradley County Memorial Center, left in 1997. Small hospital, the RN's usually worked on the floor and floated to the ER when there was patients, unless the ICU was opened then that nurse floated between ER & ICU, leaving the LPN to look after patients. Then the nurse on the floor would float between the floor and OB, the LPNs labored the patients and the RN would come and check their dilation and help during delivery. The RN floor nurse would also check with the LPNs on post pardum and nursery once a shift or when needed for the LPNs to take their breaks.

Currently work at JRMC which would be about a 45 to 60 minute drive from Warren, It is one of the bigger facilities closest to Warren. It is three stories. Has ICU,Med surg, Oncology, L &D, Womens Unit, Nursery, ER and other things for an RN to do. Pay is based on experience. Last I heard on new grads were about 16.50 an hour, unless you do JSS which is the pool nursing, (no benifits) but make more money.

Cygni519 how are you liking ortho, its weird I read your post before but didn't realize you are just across the hall from me, work 2nw last 2 years, and just got hired on in the nursery with my temp. RN license. Taking boards July 7th, so hopefully it will not be temp, but permenant after that.

Re: Bradley County Area questions

Hey Penny....

I am really liking Ortho, enjoy the people I work with and I swear I learn something new every day....LOL!!! The ONE thing is being cancelled because of low census.....and since it is the ONLY floor I've worked at JRMC I must admit feeling anxious about floating to another floor....it's a little scary but will have no choice if I continue to lose my hours. And the drive get's pretty old after a while....but really value the experience I am getting. You also replied to my "failure" post and I want to thank you for your response (must admit I chuckled at the thought of patient with bed in tow in the bathroom....LOL) and I am more careful every day. Do you live in Pine Bluff or commute?

Re: Bradley County Area questions

Yeah the cancellations are tough when you need to work. Are you JSS or full time?
I live in Pine Bluff now, but use to live in Star City, so I just about had to commute 30 to 45 minutes anywhere I worked. Except the one time I worked at the mental health for about 4 years, until a patient decided to throw me across the table when I tried to give her her daily meds . Then I started commuting again.
