ARNEC...Is it a reasonable way to get to RN?

I am going to be applying to the ARNEC program through the college I graduated LPN. Any thoughts on this program. I know several people that have gone through it, I am just curious to know what other people have done.

Also has AR approved using MAPS (medical assistant personnel)? I heard that they have not.

I know several who have done this. It is a strenuous program. I'm sure you will do fine.

As for the MAP.....yes, they are approved in Arkansas NH:

Act 1423 of the 2005 Arkansas legislative session authorized the use of trained and certified medication assistants in nursing homes in Arkansas. Medication Assistants are required to successfully complete an education program and pass a certification exam before being allowed to function in the role of Medication Assistant Certified (MA-C) in a nursing home.

Good luck with your RN program.

I am disappointed that they would approve maps. I just don't think it is a good idea (safety wise). I also believe it is going to put some LPNs out of a job. Arkansas is by far the worst as far as pay for nurses (from what I have seen so far) this just gives employers a reason to cheap out more than they do already. Just my opinion.

Yes Arkansas has approved Med Techs.
I am a CNA and thought about doing the Medication Aide- but after talking to many nurses I have decided not to go that route- I may go ahead with the LPN classes instead.
