Hi John,

I sat in front and didn't get a good look at the gender mix. What do you think the percentage was? (Did you notice there were some Dads and SOs accompanying some of the applicants? I did... there were at least 3 in my group.)

From my reading in the student area my rough guess is that males are running about 10% of the classes... maybe that's the highest % that get accepted! DOH!

Good luck to you too!

Hi,

In the partnership meeting -- was there a mention about contracts being sent out for us to look at? Did anyone receive one?

Yes, there was.
No, I haven't....

I think the lawyers (who were mentioned as not having signed-off on the contracts) probably objected to each of us getting to see the contracts for the other 3 places...

Re: U of AZ Interview for ASBSN!

Hi all,

Three quick questions:
Does anyone know how many students that started in the Accelerated program last May -- are still in the program and will graduate in August? I guess I am looking at retention rates.
Did anyone ask the question about 'pro-rating' the tuition/work repayment requirement, in any of the sponsorship meetings? I guess what I am wondering is if it is a two year work agreement and you have worked one and half years and something happens --- do you owe it all back -- with no credit?
How do you include attachments on PM messages?

thanks ---

Re: U of AZ Interview for ASBSN!

I found the 2007 fact sheet that was given out at the Nov meetings.

187 applicants
79 admitted & enrolled.
Avg GPA of Pre-reqs - 3.54
Avg Cumulative GPA - 3.29

No mention of student loss; but, I wouldn't expect it.
The reading I've done on the net suggests that a much higher percentage of 2nd degree students finish nursing school.

I didn't ask the pro-rated question; but, I vaguely remember hearing one of the presenters say it was pro-rated. (But that isn't a quote so you can't quote me!!!).

tick, tick, tick...

Re: U of AZ Interview for ASBSN!

I know two people who graduated from the U of A's accelerated BSN program. Both speak highly of the program. I also know from reading the CON newsletters that the retention rate is phenomenal. Typically, they only lose 1-3 students per accelerated cohort.

Good luck, guys!!!

Re: U of AZ Interview for ASBSN!

Hello! Well, I just got the contract emailed to me yesterday for UMC, Carondolet, and TMC (the same contract). Apparently Northwest is still working on theirs. It all sounds pretty basic and just reiterates what we all already know...the only new thing is that we must pass the national licensing exam after no more than 3 attempts.

Also, drdreamer, it says that you can take a leave of absence as long as you work for the hospital for a total of 24 months, but you have to complete it by 36 months after orientation (so I guess you can take a total of 12 months off).

Hope this helps. I'm still interested if others also received the contract. Good Luck!

Re: U of AZ Interview for ASBSN!

Looks like the summer schedule just came out.

http://garnet.ccit.arizona.edu/cgi-b...RSzAllz082zAll

Now you may check out the scheduling details and who the instructors are for the first classes in the accelerated BSN program.

Also, as soon as you receive your UA admission info, you may sign on to the following website to read course evaluations regarding professors:
