Hoping someone can help...I am SERIOUSLY considering a move to AZ within the next year or so. Problem is I'm in a dilemma as to whether to stay where I am (I HATE this place!!!) and finish my RN program (I'm currently LPN looking to bridge) or move to AZ and complete the bridge program there.

I believe that I read about a 1 year residency requirement before I can get in-state tuition. If so, that definitely needs to be considered before I make a final decision.

If anyone has any info about this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Where are you looking to move too? We moved to Phoenix 2.5 years ago and I started at GCC as soon as we got here. I don't recall exactly what happened, but as soon as we got an apt and I could show proof of address, I signed up for classes and paid in state tuition. I don't recall having any problems.

I am going to be doing an LPN program here in Phoenix this year, and when I called asking info about the LPN-RN bridge programs, the counselor made it sound like they were pretty easy to get into- no wait!

You should call Gateway Community College and talk to the counselor about the bridge program. I beleive it is an accelerated, 9 month program. Glendale Community College also has an accelerated program.

Hopefully others will be able to give you some more info.

Yes, state law requires that you reside here for 12 months before paying in-state tuition. The tuition for 6 or fewer credits is not that bad (about $20/credit more than in-state). But once you go above 6 credits per semester, the tuition jumps by about $250/credit). I started taking classes right away after moving her (two years ago in March) but didn't take more than 6 credits per semester until after I had lived here a year.
