The teachers are amazing, and when I am in clinicals, I feel like I can do my patient care with confidence. I have even had compliments from the nurses on how much I know, and I know my classmates have as well. Makes you feel more confident about graduating and starting a new career! Anyway, PMI is a great school, with great teachers who make you work for your grades, but make sure you learn, and are always there to help you!
If you don't mind me asking where did you do your clinicals?

We did clinicals at Maricopa Medical Center for NICU, Peds, and L&D, Promise Hospital (old Phoenix Memorial) for med-surg (a lot of trach patients, dialysis, and wound care, because it's an acute long term hospital), Maricopa again for more med-surg, Mesa General and Chandler Regional for telemetry & med-surg, Lodestar Day Resource Center (homeless shelter) for psych, and we are also going to Maryvale for advanced med-surg/ICU. Lots of good experiences!!!

The NCLEX pass rates at PMI are great! Even better than those at some of the CCs. Check out the AZBON website! Just goes to show you that other programs are out there educating great nurses!

Are you talking about the admission test? Well, it's been almost 2 years since I took the test, but if I remember correctly, it was all three!

I went the community college route in the early 80's-- in Iowa.. no wait lists. Cost me about $4000 for the 2 year program and when we moved to Az. that year I got a job immediately. I had taken student loans and was able to pay them back promptly.
Yes, the costs have become high. But nursing remains a very good career with excellent opportunity and income potential.I say an investment of $40, 000 for an education that will get you into the workforce immediately upon graduation is a bargain!
The waitlists I hear about (YEARS!) just sap your motivation and energy-- and keep you from employment and a salary you could be making (AND SATISFACTION you can be enjoying!) Just get into school ASAP, take student loans if you have to-- you will make more than the cost of school back in your first year of employment!!!!
GOOD LUCK!

I've dealt with them and they are HORRIBLY RUDE and inconsiderate, from the front desk to the phony faculty in the back. They do NOT care what we prospective students go thru to compete w/ ea other for their lmtd spots, and they will lie to you to keep you waiting unitl they've made their pick for the classes, then dump you like garbage. At least that's what it felt like, dealing with them.
They do NOT return phone calls, and do NOT answer to anyone- they will pick students based on their own criteria, by then it is too late to get into another school......... only go there if it is your LAST choice!

I was wondering if there are any nurses out there that graduated from PIMA medical institute?? I am due to start the program this October at the Albuquerque campus and would like to know what you thought about the program?? I know it doesn't transfer everywhere to get a bsn, but I'm really only interested in getting an ADN anyways. I recentley moved from out of state to live with my parents so that I can complete nursing school. Back home I have been waiting over 2 yrs to get into a nursing program and was working as a full time MA. I am glad they were able to get me in much faster and I believe the high tuition costs will definitley outweigh the weight I've had to encounter, but I want to know if this program is really trustworthy and how other nurses who went there liked it...any info will help greatly....Much Thanks

I have not graduated yet, but I am graduating in December. But I personally feel I have gotten a great education in the nursing program at Pima. The course load is tough...it is in any good nursing program...but I have learned so much in the almost 2 years since I started. And I have developed my skills where I feel confident when I go into clinicals that I will be able to properly care for my patients. I don't know about the Albuquerque campus, but everyone in the nursing department at the Mesa campus has been supportive, helpful, and very knowledgeable in their specialties. I am like you...I don't plan on going on to get my BSN, so this program was perfect for me. I'm graduating soon, and if I had stayed at the community college, I may still be on the waiting list (since some of my classmates from the community college are still waiting...and they all passed their prerequisites and the NET test). I wish you luck, and hope that your program at Albuquerque is as good an experience as mine was.
