Suburban living close to the city? I would focus on the Tempe/Scottsdale area then. I'm a bit biased too, as I was born and raised in Tempe. Currently I live in southern Tempe, so I'm far enough away from ASU, but close enough to everything I like, and Phx is a short drive to work for me. Tempe/Scottsdale is going to be a lot more expensive though because they're more centrally located and they're land-locked.

Honestly, it really depends on where you're going to work. Pick a hospital then find a place in the area ..... or find an area and then pick a hospital close by
