It's a beautiful hospital right nearby my niece's house. It's sorely needed in the east valley. I'm in nursing school right now so am not concerned with interviews yet. Can't help you there. Good luck!

Re: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

If that's the CHW hospital, then it's not opening until at the very earliest, June. I have a friend who works in NICU at Chandler Regional (CHW) and just asked her the other night 'cause I too thought it was supposed to open this spring. I can tell you it's a really nice looking hospital, supposed to have all the latest greatest equipment etc. But one bad thing, she told me they're only supposed to open with 6 L & D beds!!! Since Gilbert is growing by leaps and bounds, it amazes me they're starting out so small in L & D. Gilbert is known for having lots of young families (some of which have lots of children) and you'd think they'd have a larger L&D center. I do know they're already planning on expanding, but not sure when that will be done.

It's gonna be the next desert sam (well banner desert now lol) IMO. Being so close to the freeway (well, as soon as it hits val vista that is), it'll definitely fill up!

It's down the street from me, would be aweful convenient to work there once I get my RN

Hey Gilbertdaddy where are you at? That hospital is about 2-3 miles from my house and I'd love to work there too, once it opens. I sure hope it doesn't end up to be like Banner Desert, at least not the ER!!! With the new Gilbert Emergency Center just having opened up, maybe we still have a chance?!!
Are you in school right now?
Welcome to the board,

Re: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

I'm on VV and Queen Creek, just down the road

Still getting my pre-reqs out before I can start at CGCC for their nursing program, but now I'm thinking Rio Salado because their entire program can be done online with labs done at affiliate hospitals. Since I work full-time and support a family of 4, that's probably the best bet at the moment

I'm at Lindsay and RAy, not too far away from Mercy. Have you heard about the Glendale weekend program? Rio is a great alternative for people working, but if you want or need an instructor to fill in the blanks then Glendale has a Fri/Sat program. It's great! I'm in it right now. It's 24 months, and you don't get your summers off (but you get something like three weeks off). It's a nice program for working people. It sound like a long drive, but it's really not that bad. Out of 30 people in my class there's four of us from Gilbert. We all carpool which makes it a lot easier (we get to ride in the carpool lane, )
Good luck with your pre-req's, it really does go fast.

Re: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

heh, yeah I'm eager to get into the program for sure. An old high school friend I talked to today for the first time in years is actually a CNA so we got to talk shop a bit, it was nice

Is it friday days? I'd like to be in person for class but with the kids, work, and schooling, I just don't think it'd be smart. On the plus side, it's easier to space out or not pay attention in class, when it's online, it's all or nothing, you're 100% responsible for your grades =O

Re: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

You're right, online it is all or nothing. I took most of my pre-req's online, including Bio201/202. The class at GCC is actually during the day. On Friday I go from 9-12 and on Saturday I'm in class 10-430. I could have had a long day on Friday and a short day on Saturday, but this schedule worked out best for me. I have six kids, three of which I drive to three seperate schools, at various times of the day, so the traditional program just didn't work for me. I did have Rio as choice #2, but I really wanted the interaction of a classroom, between students and teacher, that's why GCC worked out so well for me. My dh ended up adjusting his schedule so that he works every other weekend, which gives him every friday off (he has a great boss) and then we just need a babysitter two Sat.'s a month. This class works great if you can be a little flexible in your workweek and get Fridays off. There were some people who tried to keep working and do the traditional program at GCC, they've already lost 11 people and it's only the third week of classes. Our class hasn't lost a single person and we've all passed all of our tests so far.

Re: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

I have a question about Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. I have seen a few jobs on their website that I would like to apply for but if the hospital doesn't open until June we just have to wait until then? Has anybody applied there?
