All I can say is that I am seeing Maryvale ER patients transfered to my hospital because there is no GI doctor on call, there is no neurologist on call, etc.

I work with some nurses that came from Maryvale who do not have nice things to say about it.

Well, they do have the nickname...Scaryvale! I'm sure it is not just the patients that give it that name. Kind of like Phoenix St. Pukes! What does the St. stand for "Sentinal?"

There are a couple of women's health activist groups I belong to that meet there once a month. One of the Nurse Practitioners over there greeted me at one of my first meetings with, "Welcome to the corner of drive by and stabbing". We all laughed and she was making light of things but she did share the added stress of safety was a lot with dealing with the regular stress of Nursing.

We say the same thing when we get transfers from that hospital, we use the term "Scaryvale". So there ya go ...... not exactly the most reputable hospital in the valley!

Re: Maryvale?

If you talk to nurses who have, or do, work there you may find that Maryvale is a very friendly place to work. I have worked in many hospitals in the valley, and frankly, they are no better, and some much worse than Maryvale.
By the way, there are many hospitals in the valley that do not have nuerosurgeons. Maryvale has nuerologists!
Talk about giving a dog a bad name.
