I am working while going.. prob gonna try to do 16 hours a week.. but my dads letting me stay with him for this school year, so that helps
How did you find out about these agencies? Is this something that will be brought up at the info session? Do you have to committ to working for them for a while after graduation, or is it just free money? That's pretty cool. $4000 is quite a bit of money. I need to get as much money as possible because I am pretty sure I am going to have to quit my job whenever I start.

I was actually asked to quit or at least give notice about 6 weeks in advance to finishing up my CNA, so my current employer can hire my replacement. " So I can find a job that will help me with my new career" they said. Now how sweet of them to think of me.
When they found out I was going back to school to become a nurse and wanted to get into a program ASAP they started freaking out. I used to work 40 + hours a week now I am lucky if I work 32. Oh well at least once I get my CNA ( again... used to have it but let it expire in 2000) I can try and get a job at a hospital or nursing home if I have to.

The guy who works at MSC said he was going to put the names of some more agencies on the website so keep checking there (maricopaskillcenter.com) But you can google Friendly House & get their info- They never answered their phones for me so I just showed up there & got the info. They are state funded for impoverished people (but you only have to make less than $25/hr to get the funding)- its credited up front & there is no contract with anyone except that they call you like once a month to check on you & see how schools going..

The website says the program is 13 months long and class hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8am-1:30pm with one 10 hour clinical day that is on Fri., Sat., or Sun. I am not sure how current that information is though. I haven't been to the information session yet.

When I spoke recently with someone there, they said it would be 5 days a week from 8am-4pm. Then, when clinicals start (after 14 weeks) it will go to 4 days a week in class then one day in clinicals. They never told me it would be Sat or Sun. Maybe that's a new thing. My friend that went there said clinicals used to be on Fridays. It's really hard to get a straight answer form someone!

Re: Maricopa Skill Center

Ok, they said the info they have, is 8am-3pm with every other Fri. off. Clinicals to be on Fridays. They said they will have someone in "student services" contact me to verify. I doubt that will happen so I will call back tomorrow.

Re: Maricopa Skill Center

Hi Guys,

From what i've read on this forum, the LPN program sounds pretty good. But i wanted to ask, does anyone know how hard it is to get a job as an LPN in the hospitals in AZ ? Where do most LPN's work ? How much less would LPN's make compared to RN's ? What schools offer LPN to BSN programs and how long would it take to get the BSN ?
