.......................and freaking out already!!


Didn't expect it so soon, really..........classes start July, part time program. I put that as my first choice. It is extended past traditional semester boundaries and is only on Fri and Sat. I thought that would give me more time for the rest of my life (work, maybe?) and more time to study. It says that the lecture and clinical is compressed, but I don't know how that can be since you go to school year round for two years. Hmmm...anyone done the PT program?


Well, in a few weeks I am meeting with ASU advisors for the BSN program at ASU as well as the Clinical Laboratory Science program. I am still undecided on all this!! I hope I find my way soon! I suppose I am going to accept the spot and then figure out Plan B if I want out. Wish I knew where to go from here. Laboratory Science sounds sooo interesting, but nursing seems much more logical. I need to figure out what I really want......


Anyway, thought I'd share and see if anyone has any experience with this program.

Janice- Congratulations! Thats so exciting. I am curious as to how long you had to wait or better yet, when did you submit your application? I am applying next month for the full time program and I keep getting mixed answers as to how long I'll have to wait to get in- some say by fall 2005 and others say as long as spring 2006- if you could let me know- I'd appreciate it.

Congratulations!!! I am in the Glendale P/T program. Is this the program you are talking about? I have a friend that was admitted to this progam in July also. Even though the program is only P/T, it is still very demanding. I am working F/T and find it hard to keep up with all the reading. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks everybody! I put in my app in October (04) so it looks like you all won't have to wait too long!! The PT program was my first choice however and I don't know how popular that one is...


Glendale Student........comforting to know that you are able to work FT. I may have to, we'll see. At the very least I have to quit my job and get a new one. I am seriously considering going the BSN route at this time. Gotta see how long that'll take.

Oh, I should also add that my app was out there in the system but it was on a "provisional" status. I finished BIO 202 in late January so my application did not go into "active" status until two days ago!!! So..........I applied for spring semester (Bio 202 was technically a fall class) but my app didn't drop in until a few days ago. Kristina White said no big deal since I was extremely unlikely to get in this spring anway. So, according to that comment, you can expect a one semester wait. But who's to say............maybe I would have gotten in by chance. I will never know. So, maybe no wait, maybe one semester. Wait could be longer for the traditional four semester program, but there are more of those in the fall, so..........

i did the part time program at glendale for my last 2 semesters and i loved it. worked out great for those who needed to work FT and also for SAHMoms like me. the instructors were great and i am so glad to have found a PT program.

in my opinion it should be called PT accelerated program. lots of info in about the same amount of time that the FT students get it in. was pretty stressful at times, but worked out perfect for me.

Thank you for the info! I wonder...why do you say it should be called "accelerated" part time? Because even though you are only going 2 days per week you are learning just as much per week?

In your experience, is it easier to hold down more work hours in this program than in the traditional four semester program? Can you compare/contrast for me any more?

I start in July and am wondering when I will get any info on tuition/orientation/etc...?

I will soon be looking for a new job...maybe CNA. I need to get certified still though. Do they let you refresh on the skills learned in the nurse assisting classes when you start nursing school or are you expected to know all of it. I am really scared about that because I took the NA classes last fall. Would you know of any way for me to refresh those skills? I know that starting 2006 they are breaking the NA classes out of the prereqs and including them in the program. I wish it was that way now. I feel like I need to take that class all over again now!!

Why didn't I listen to my instructors when they told us to RUN out and get certified and GET A JOB right after the class!!! Kicking myself now.....
