Gateway and Glendale Part Time Programs

I am a mom and I need to take a part time nursing program. I am applying for Gateway's part time program and Glendale's weekend day program. I was just wondering if anybody is currently in these programs, and could give me any information. I was just wondering how often and what days you actually go to the schools, when are the clinicals, how long are the clinicals, and what kind of homework should I expect? I just want to be prepared! Also do I pay the cost of the entire program at the beginning or per block? Thanks so much, any information would calm my anxiety

Re: Gateway and Glendale Part Time Programs

Hi, I just started Block 1 at Glendale Community College/week-end program. We didn't pay all the fees up front but we had to spend a lot of money in order to start. I think that I spent about $1,000 in books & tote and $900.00 in tuition. We first start with lecture for 8 weeks and then we switch to clinicals for another 8 weeks. I think that we get spring break week-end off and they said something like 3 weeks in summer and maybe 3 weeks for the holidays, but I am not that sure. There is a lot of reading involved...I mean A LOT! We had to read quite a few chapters before school even started. For those who got financial aid, we had to pay up front because they don't disburse funds until later in the month after school had already started. I am not a single mom but I know that there are 10 people who are single moms in the class. We are 30 students total. I chose the week-end program as my first choice because I have 4 kids and I need to spend time with them for homework, etc... The hours are about 0645 to 1530 Fridays and Saturdays but it may vary. There are time when you will need to come to the lab to practice the skills and the tests are computerized and you will have to take them outside class time. Usually everyone takes it that same day. Good luck to you..... I know I will need it!
