Re: Ethel Bauer School of Nursing in Phoenix

I do believe they are changing the program. They now require CNA certification prior to enrolling in the program. So, I imagine first semester will be changing because that is where the CNA part of the program was before. We have a new interim director who is trying to clean up the program and get us a little better prepared for the NCLEX (while trying to increase the passing % for the school). We'll see how it goes!

I will definetly be calling tommorow to see what this is all about. If this is true this changes SO many of my plans. I'll post what I find out tommorow. Hopefully I can get a hold of X. Hopefully if they do change the program they will offer the CNA there as well just maybe not in the program.....

You do have to be a CNA, I spoke to the school today. According to the person I spoke with the school also has a 92% pass rate on the NCLEX, does anyone know if that is true?? Also, does anyone have any information on the child care center??
I have been accepted to PIMA, but childcare will end up being an issue for me, so I am seriously considering EBSN. I will admit I am a little leary, since reading some of the posts on this site.

I wish we had a 92% passing rate! According to the Arizona State Board of Nursing we are under 75% passing rate, but with our new interim director, hopefully, that will be increasing. Our next set of graduates are done in June, they will be the third class to graduate through this school. So, it's not great, but it is only based off of 60-70 people, not hundreds or thousands.
The child care center isn't great! Some people don't have any other option, but I would suggest you to take a tour through it and see for yourself. It isn't a bad school, it is just new and needs to get more organized and that will happen with time.
It is a hard 17 months, but I'm almost done and worked full time all the way through and have a family.
It can be done!!

Wow, I applaud you! I opted for an LPN program because after I saw how difficult R.N school would be and the fact that I have 3 young children...Oh no!! I don't think I could handle it now. You work too?? Good Lord! You should be proud of yourself!!!

The actual percentage on the first graduating class was 68%. While that is a terrible number, it was the first class and although I'm not making excuses, I do believe the school can learn from this and make changes as needed. It doesn't mean it's a bad program. Like anything new, there are going to be kinks that need to be ironed out.

I have heard good things about Apollo's RN program, so I will be enrolling there. Apollo's program is in close proximity to Ethel Bauer.
My understanding is that you are not in the program? Apollo's program is 36 thousand, not 26 like ethel bauer. The school is known to have a great reputation and is not that bad. The instructors are wonderful, the director is making new changes and yah, the school may not be in the greatest of areas, although it is a great school. All the luck to you.

I am part of second as well, and know from experience that the school is fast paced, and is an excellerated program. They do prepare you and yes it is not in the best area, but the school is great. I have had alot of fun so far. All of luck.

Re: Ethel Bauer School of Nursing in Phoenix

So I called to get information on this school and the lady told me that classes could be anywhere from 7:30-5:30pm Monday-Thursday. I was wondering if someone could tell me what their typical schedule is like? I have 2 small kids at home and not sure I want to put them in daycare for 10 hours a day. Anyone go through this program with young kids? How was it? I really just want to get this done, but not sure what to do with my kids. They have never been in daycare before. Thanks!
