Burn unit at Maricopa County Hospital

I was wondering if anyone works in the burn ICU at County hospital? I have heard all the bad stuff about the hospital, blah, blah, blah....I dont want to make this a thread bashing this hospital. I just want to know how the burn unit is since it is the only one in Phoenix. How are the working conditions? How are the ratios? Any input regarding how pt care is done on this unit would be greatly appreciated.

I have had friends that worked there and enjoyed it
BUT BUT BUT
You know how hot Phoenix is in the summer don't you? They keep the burn ICU at about 90 degrees all the time. That is the optimal temperature to keep these burn patient's environment. I don't like dripping sweat on my patients!

Re: Burn unit at Maricopa County Hospital

I worked at MMC and I loved it. I didn't work in burn though, but I knew a few people that did and they loved it. If you want to go into that speciality, then definitely go for it, it's the 2nd largest burn center in North America.

Good luck to you!
