Arizona Agency

I am very intrested in operating a per diem staffing agency in Phoenix. My experience has been mostly in IT, Eng., Admin, Acctng. Sept. 11th closed my doors.

Can anyone offer any suggestions and advise on how to start, where to start.
I want a agency that Nurses will be happy at so they keep coming back and refer me to others.

Any advise would be great.

Thanks.

It's tough to start anything when you're on the outside. I'd guess the best way to learn how an agency works would be to get hired by an agency (not necessarily as a nurse either). Learn everything about the biz, see if there are shortcomings that you can improve on.

Thank you so much for the response. I have 6 years of staffing experience (IT, Eng., Acct., etc) just not medical. I guess I wanted to find out what nurses would like from an agency...so I can offer by service to them.

Thanks for taking the time to respond !!!

As to your previous post that I responded to........Arizona is quite unique compared to many other states. The major facilities in Phoenix are under the umbrella of the Arizona Hospital Association. It takes approximately two years of having your agency and huge piles of paperwork to get on their list of approved agencies. Unless you have funding to keep you going for quite some time???

I worked agency in Arizona for about fifteen years so know the market quite well and have owned an agency in another state. There is no way that I would touch an agency to own in AZ. Also due to the size of the area, you really need offices in several areas to make it convenient for your nurses and that increases your expenses greatly..............many of the hospitals are parts of chains, so you would be expected to staff the entire group, not just one facility. That is why there is a need for several offices..........

Most agencies offer daily pay.............you would be forking out money and would not be getting in a check from the facility for at least thirty days, something else to take into consideration. And they can pay sixty days out, but you would still need to pay your nurses on time............
