Is there anyone who attends or has attended Wallace State-Hanceville? I was looking in to going there or Jeff State. I have heard it is easier to get in to Wallace. Does anyone know if this is true?

Don't know if that is true or not, but I can say that Hanceville, AL is in a very hicktown and located close to nothing other Cullman, depending on what you like -- this could be a good or bad thing. Look deeply into it before you decide to attend a program simply because it is "easy to get into". You might want to check out the AL State Board of Nurses to look at NCLEX passing rates also! I just graduate for wallace in Hanceville class of 2005. I love it and its not a hick town ,Cullman is 5 mins away with everything to offer . I live in birmingham drove up there. As for the passing rate ,we had a class of 240 while other schools has a class of 30 to 60 to graduate and the math is alot easier to look at that way ! As for getting into the program well all the community college has the same entrance test and GPA requirements. Hope this helps!!!!!!!

What is the PASSING rate? A passing rate is usually quoted in terms of percentage which is indicative of how many people actually PASSED NCLEX. 250 graduates are a lot of people to manage in a nursing program, and quite frankly, I have never heard of a school in Alabama accepting that many people. Our class began with 80 people and now we have lost 24 due to failing courses, clinical points, and simply by choice.The point of the statement I made is that you have to look at things like passing rates when choosing a Nursing Program. Reputation speaks for itself, as well as the competency of a school's graduates .

Well I know what a passing rate is . I attend a school before wallace state and it was awful ( Treachers having to teach subjects the had no clue about, clinical was very far way, and you wouldnt believe one teacher had a nervous break down in front of class. There passing rate was in the 90's. I transfers to Wallace state and yes my graduation class was big ( very small classes and a flexiable schedule) we manage just fine and the teachers knew every last one of us!!!!!! MY POINT IS DONT JUST LOOK AT A PASSING RATE OR HOW EASY TO GET IN ABOUT WALLACE STATE.

I also graduated from Wallace State. Its a good school, but like any other Nursing program it has ups and downs. Teachers are great!! You can also make many lifelong friendships. However there isn't much to do in Hanceville, but so what? Trust me its a great school, but the teachers are dedicated to you learning and you will need every minute of study time you can get. So don't worry about the town b/c yes it is small, but it is a quiet environment, perfect for learning. Also forget the passage rate, b/c students determine the rate, not the instructors or the school. Some things in Nursing you just have to read and study on your own to understand. Thank you for your replies. I have heard alot of good things about Wallace. I have applied to the program for the winter term. I hope that I get in. Do they like for you to have all your co-req's done before they accept you to the program?

I looked on ABN and Wallace graduated 183 ADN students and the percentage rate was 74.3%. I graduated in 98 from the LPN program there and I passed Nclex on the first exam. I agree that it depends on the student. I have no problems with test anxiety and some students do. I loved Wallace. I am attending Snead in Boaz for my ADN and it is a new program, it was closer to my home as well as clinicals. At Wallace we did clinicals at Children's in B'ham for peds and Montclair for Critical Care. Lots of good clinicals! Good Luck!

We had to take a test and I can't remember the name right off hand at this moment. I also had all academics required for the ADN program but decided to do LPN first. I have heard they except everyone then weed out from there. When I went the only academic required for LPN was English 101. Wallace has a beautiful campus. :
