UAB info?

I have always hated UAB's website-
I've got a long story here-
I started at Jeff State as a psych major 5 years ago, transferred to UAB, and decided that I'd rather be a nurse. I transferred back to Jeff State, took A&P I, did very well, and have applied to the nursing program.
Ok, so the story is not all that long.
But, my question is, would this transfer screw me up if I still wanted to apply for UAB's nursing program as a fall-back if I don't get into Jeff state?
Who at UAB do I need to talk to, or can I do it online? What's required for UAB's program entry?
Any info would help greatly. Thanks.

Re: UAB info?

At UAB I talked to a lady named Cecelia...Ohama...I think...not positive about the last name. However she was a nursing adviser. She was REALLY sweet and helped me more and answered more questions in a phone conversation that I have ever gotten out of the Jeff State advisers the countless times I have met with them IN PERSON.

If you already have a bachelors degree there accelerated BSN as a second degree program sound GREAT. If do not have to work and can do this I would do it in a heartbeat!!! But I have to work so I am waiting on tenterhooks to see If I am accepted to Jeff States night program. GOOD LUCK

Re: UAB info?

I think you have your schools backwards. You should use Jeff State as your fall back in case you don't get into UAB. People who don't get into UAB go to Jeff State.

UAB's website has always been easy for me to use. It has all the pre-reqs that are needed to be admitted into the SON. Just look at the classes that you have taken and the classes that you would need to be admitted at UAB. It's not really that hard to figure out.

I understand why you would think that, but it is actually not the case for me. I have ADD, and for reasons of pride and stupid morals, I have never claimed it officially. I just don't want to get through school because I had special treatment. I've been at UAB, and wasn't able to concentrate in class because of people talking behind me. I didn't ever feel comfortable interrupting class to ask questions, and just didn't do well.

Some people are just that way and don't do well in situations like that. I would prefer to go to Jeff state and come back to UAB for my bachelors.

I am also more of a learn-by-doing person. Jeff State in my experience has always allowed me to learn that way. I've found it much easier to find study partners, and the professors in my experience have been willing to help as long as you are willing to learn.

Re: UAB info?

Well suck up your pride and get on some medicine if you actually have it because nurses need to be able to focus. My roommate just got diagnosed and she said that nursing school was hard for her b/c of her lack of concentration.

Finding study partners in nursing school is easy because everyone is looking for one, so there goes that excuse. Also the teachers at UAB were always very helpful, even after you had passed their class you could still go to them for help.

Re: UAB info?

Excuse me, but I would NOT call it an excuse.
I am more COMFORTABLE at Jeff State and would prefer to START there.

That is not to say that I am not CAPABLE, and it's CERTAINLY does not say that I don't know what it takes, and I never said that I wouldn't want to continue my education at UAB.

You need to learn a bit more about ADD and how many people in emergency professions have it and are fine.

Re: UAB info?

SORRY, that was harsh and I tried to edit it, but was interrupted (I'm at work) before I could meet that 5 minute deadline.
