Since you've asked ...I do have a of question about clinicals in the first semester.
1. What time do you have to be at the clinical place?
I know we'll be having clinicals Thursdays and Fridays. The reason, I'm asking is that I have three kids, and I will have to plan ahead.
Thanks in advance,
Adriana
I too have three children so I know exactly how it is with planning. Unfortunately they dont like to give alot of notice. That's why I offer to help people.
The first semester you only have clinicals one day a week. They will assign you either Thrusday or Friday but not both days. My first semester we did not start till November doing clinicals. You have to validated on many different things before you can go to clinicals. Examples are injections, blood pressure, and head to toe examie and all 12 crainial nerves names and how to check them.
I am always on the floor by 6:30 am a few instructors started at 6:45 and you are usually done around 1:00. FYI there are no lunch breaks. Starting in second semester you will go to the hospital the day before clinicals to get your pt. usually after class. So that will be a long day. I think we did 3 weeks of that and went two days back to back clinicals. So pre clinical was wed after class then Thrus and Fri clinical for 3 weeks. Mother baby class has been changed since when I went so I think there are more clinicals now. Lucky you! I loved those. I only got to do 3 . 3rd sem. we still do pre clinical but one 1 full clinical day per week. I have 5 weeks of those and 2 psych and one of the psych clinicals will be on a Sat. 4th semester you go to two days a week clinical. Not sure how many rotations but you will have some at children's and they are from 3-11 at night. I can fill you in more next semester when Im doing them. I have heard from my friend about them.
Ok so I talked your ear off on clinicals. Sorry! This should give you some idea of what clinicals will be like. Fell free to message me any time!
