I would be 3rd generation nurse, and when I first applied to school I couldn't decide between Psych and Nursing-- I chose psych at first because I was afraid that if I went for nursing, I'd just be doing it because my mom did it. Now I realize that nursing is what I would be better at.

I'm with the_healer on this one- everyone sees thier expeiences differently. I think this will be a challenge, but one that I can make it through with a little faith in God and a lot of hard work
Good luck Have you already applied to the program yet?

Yes- I applied for the fall 08 term- i've been at jeffy tech before, and have never been HAPPY with their service or the amount of information they give- getting them to tell you anything is like pulling teeth.

I'm praying and I have everyone I know prays praying for me. My GPA ain't great, but I'm a hard worker and made As in my pre-reqs for nursing.

I will graduate next May ( 2009) . Yes.. our class has gotten together to study. Let me also mention that the type of questions that you will get will not be your normal type of questions. There will be 4 right answers you have to pick which is the most right. There are questions on tests that you will think I would be doing all of these at the same time but you must be able to pick which is the answer they are looking for. I would suggest you go and get a few good NCLEX books and start looking at those type of questions to prepare yourself. Its not just about reading and memorizing its about applying what you learn.First semester isn't that bad really. As you progress the questions get harder or I should say higher level( thats what our teacher call it) Second semester you will have a test every other week on a topic ex, Resp., CV, Diabetes, Surgery, F&E to name a few. Lots of material to learn and then be tested on in a short time. Its doable...dont expect A's in the class. We didnt have anyone to do that.WE had a few B's and mostly C's in that class. We only lost a few people due to the actually class. Like I said before we lost most our people due to ERI testing and Math. You have to take a math test the first day of each semester starting in second semester and have to make a 90% (basically you can miss 2 questions). So these are the two areas that we lose students. My class started with 57 and we are now down to 25 going into our 3rd semester. If I can help you ever please let me know Id be more than happy to help! Which campus are you going to? I have heard that there are difference in the two campuses.

Temprtantrum...the healer.. and anyone else... yes everyone has different experiences... But this is from someone that has been in the program.. Especially the Jefferson campus... 2bnursestef ( I think they are at the Shelby campus).... Do your research...I was advise by a Doctor to do research and talk with students that are currently in other nursing programs before I actually switch... It's just a heads up... It's one thing when one person fails.. But when over half the class... Like I said 10 out of 50 left from Fall 2007... That is a majority..that is too many students to say " Hey ya'll aren't studying"... That's a faculty issue.. But whatever school you decide to go to... Do your research... Maybe they have learn from previous classes and have changed but who knows...

Here's a good link to look at regarding how well each school did on the NCLEX for the 07 graduating class. Something to think about.
