I'm thinking about switching to the Part time program...But I would like some feedback of those who are currently in the program. I am at the Birmingham campus, and I'll just leave it at that. Any information given will be appreciated, Thanks

Hi Indieflower, I was wonderinging if you have switched to the part-time program at Jeff State or not? I am trying to get into that program myself and was hoping to get some feedback from someone that is currently in the program.

I am in this program. It is chaos. I would not recommend this program. I wonder how St Vincent's allows their name to be attached.

Can you elaborate on why the part time program is chaos? I'm applying in May for full or part-time and I'm trying to make a decision as to which one. Help!

My opinion why it is chaos.

1. Not enough instructors
2. Jeff St NCLEXC scores are about 82% which is very very low. I think that is because they do not teach what is on the NCLEX.
3. They make up rules as they go. I believe they are desperate to bring up their scores and rather than looking at their instructors and their methods of instruction, they pass the blame for the low scores to the students. EX: many students failed 105 last semester (over 1/2 I think in the day and evening program). Not only did they have to take 105 over they had to go back and take 102 over even though they passed 102, some with As! They did not tell the students this until after the semester had started.
4. They do NOT respond to students concerns. Do not ask questions; it offends them. I am referring to most, not all of the instructors. Students are a thorn in their sides.

The Nursing Program at Jeff St is doable, but don't expect to enjoy the learning proccess while there. In fact, you will be your own instructor. The only thing that I believe will save them is fresh leadership.

Indieflower - did you not like the full-time program at jeffstate. if so, why? I'm currently trying to decide which program I'm going to do myself. Which would you say is worse?

Well... I will be going back to Jeff State this summer for Nur 102 ONLY.. I have to agree with the above..I started the program Fall 2007 and my class is now down to 10... So what does that tell you... I am just going back to take that one class and I'm out of these. They most definitely need a new fleet of teachers in to get the program back on track.. Esp since they are under investigation now.. Do research for the schools that you are considering.

Just wanted to say Hello toyou and also I have a question for you. Why are you taking the class this summer then leaving? I ask this because I have classmates that have looked into leaving and all were told they would have to start all over. No classes would transfer. Have you heard anything different? I also am qurious to what you know about an investigation. I too have been told somethings and I wonder if its the same as you have heard. You can either write back here or send a pm to me.

Hey 2bnurse.....

You know what I've never heard that the credits wouldn't transfer.... I have a friend who has spoke to someone at Lawson.. and they didn't inform her of that.. And another friend who has talked to someone at Wallace.. They never said that the classes wouldn't transfer, but they suggested thtat she start over because they haven't started taking transfer students yet..... As far as the investigation....Let's see I know my class ( started Fall2007) out of 50.. maybe 10 are left... Nurses failing the board....I regret starting out at Jeff State....Eventhough I am suppose to start back this summer. Returning students were suppose to be notified of the required paperwork/and portions of the physical that would need to be done.. I have called and no one will return my phone call... And I have even called the Director of the Program.. And quite frankly I am sick and Tired of it........lol.. Hope that helps...If Jeff State gets their ability to teach stripped from them... i would blame the state... They program needs a total make over......

Thats interesting..I know a girl in my class that went up to Wallace and they told her that she would have to start all over . Then another friend who called and asked Lawson and they said the same thing. Who knows for sure. I just hope I dont have to find out the real answer. I have 3 more semesters. I have heard that once you make it out of 2nd semster you can do it so I hope so. Last semester was a killer! I wish you the best! Dont give up your dream!!
