I finish Excelsior's ADN program this fall.
Some schools have a requirement of one year, others don't. Check with the schools you are interested in and see. Congrats on almost finishing your ADN!

I graduated in May, got my RN license in June, and will be starting RN-BSN online at UNC Chapel Hill, NC in August. By the time I start school I will be finishing the orientation in ICU. Not that I will feel comfortable to work without a preceptor, but at least I can make my own schedule.
Good luck to all of you,
flaced

I am planning on starting online at Oklahoma Panhandle University. They are a small school and NLN accredited. Best of all, online classes are only $200 per CLASS (not unit) although you have to add a $93/per unit charge so it works out to be about $500 per 3 unit semester class. zNO additional fees were asked for or paid which was nice (such as transcript, application or admission fees, etc - nothing!) They were very nice and answered all calls and e-mails immediately and in person.
I already have a BA in Psych so I only need 10 classes to complete my BSN.

I'm in Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. I just started in January and am in my fourth course "Methods of Nursing Research". I've found the support and the grading to be quite generous. But a lot of hard work!
Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

UoW sounds like the way to go. I'm basing this completely on the price at this point, any other 'pros' you can add?

Do you mind if i ask how long ago you were awarded that BA? I wonder if there is a time limit on credits you can use from other degrees? In other words, will the credits I earned for my BS (Chemistry) in '97 apply towards my BSN? I know it's probably school specific, and I should probably direct this question to program directors, just wandered if anyone here hand any input.

Hey Law of Fives,
i have been looking into the which school ques a lot lately, uw is around 124/credit, but for me they have a lot of extra classes i would have to take. slippery rock is 186, only 2 extra classes for me, and fort hays is 130 with 3 extra classes to take. i know that it is all individual, and we all have different backgrounds so that makes it very different as to what we have to take extra. the things i like about uw is that there are no power point presentations, and no group projects, got this info from another person who went there on this site.
good luck with your decision and if u find any other great info please drop a line!

I'm not sure if I will have to take any extra classes or not at this point, but that woud make a difference. I have a bachelors of science in chemistry, so I'm sorta banking on not having any extra classes to take. Although I do have to admit, for the excelsior ADN program, I do have to take Information Literacy as well as Human Growth and Development. Go figure.

RN to BSN online
|
|
Hi all,
I'm hoping to begin at Indiana Wesleyan University next month (Aug. '05). Having some trouble getting transcripts from a former university I attended for my BS in occupational education, so I'm not certain yet what will happen!
I really liked this program because the tuition, books, fees are all combined in one price (no hidden costs!), and no chemistry or statistics is required (woo hoo! :hatparty: )! Also, the program has 14 classes designed to be completed in 20 months. Not too bad...
From what I can tell, I'll have one additional class to take as well as the nursing classes since this is a Christian school and I haven't previously had a Biblical literature class.
Best of luck to all as they begin/continue/complete their courses!

I ended up getting up two hours early each day and doing homework then and that worked well for me. Good luck...its doable.

I am a diploma nurse and I am thinking of using phoenix to get my bsn them masters because I would like to teach later on. I haven't checked so I don't know if I can afford it right new. Did you have clinicals at the hospital you work at? Not sure how it works.

I started at IWU in February and I love it for all of the reasons that you stated. Also, no tests only essays, presentations and papers!
