Re: Indiana State University BSN students

I'm an LPN but have been picking away at my degree here and there over the years of being a SAHM. I'm finishing up the last few things and plan on submitting my ISU application package in the next couple of weeks. Starting the phase 2 modules as soon as I get these last couple of tests finished up so I'm ready to start testing as soon as I find out I'm in.

Re: Indiana State University BSN students

Hi guys,
I passed my American History CLEP exam.
I am taking the week-end off and will be starting Algebra Monday. I have a college Algebra book and some good web sites. I have no idea how long it will take me.
I also priced out the textbooks ISU uses in the traditional classroom for the four TCN Phase 2 modules. They come to around $500. So when the time comes for me, I will try the first of four tests using textbooks instead of TCN.If it is too hard, I will then have to use TCN. I am hopeful I will not have to.

Congrads on passing your test!
Hey that's a great idea to find out what textbooks they use! I have the modules and it's basically all your LPN stuff so if someone still has fairly recent textbooks from LPN school that would work too I'd imagine.

Adnerbe -- Congrats on the History Pass

Algebra is my next one also. I'm getting ready to take my first test, Patho, I've set a limit of no later than the end of the month. I'm kind of having a problem with knowing when to stop and just take the test, I can't know everything about a subject. I'm kind of a perfectionist, get close to a 100 on everything, have to know everything, but I'm working on getting over it.

I'm the same way but not even trying to get over it so don't feel too bad. lol!
Let me know how patho goes. I need to do that one but I think I'll do gerontology, patho, and technical writing over the summer. I'm doing ISU so I'll be doing nursing stuff spring semester.

Re: Indiana State University BSN students

I used to want to be a perfectionist but remember...
CLEP and DANTE Exams are a pass/fail score. So an "A" and a "C" are the same. Excelsior exams are grades tho and I believe they might affect your GPA so study extra for those exams.
Here is what I have left...
Algebra, Chemistry, Public Speaking and Tech Writing and then I can then apply to ISU. Statistics, World religion, Ethics, Phy Ed and Spanish I also have left.
My hope is to apply for Fall 2008. With 2 kids in college and a single mom, I should be eligible for some financial aid!

Re: Indiana State University BSN students

Hi,
I thought it would be helpful if all the ISU hopefuls posted where they are with classes so we can help each other...
I have completed in the last 2 years...in this order...
A&P, Micro, Pathophys, Eng Comp, Intro to Soc, Intro to Psych, LS Dev Psych, A&I Lit, Inf Sys/Comp App and American History 1.
I want to get all ny non-nursing courses done so all I have left will be nursing classes. Left are....
*Algebra, *Chemistry, *Tech Writing, *Public Speaking, Religion, Ethics, Statistics, Spanish and Phy Ed.
The four * classes need to be done before I apply so I will finish those, apply, finish the others and hopefully be ready by Fall 2008. If not, I am in no hurry and will wait until Spring!

I didn't realize CLEP and DANTE are pass/fail. Sweet! Thanks for that info!
Hey, I'm testing on the public speaking in the next week or two...need the study guide? It's really short, sweet and to the point. I did the study questions in it though.
I need to do World Religions eventually but I'm not buying a study guide for that. There's a ton of library books and websites on religion. Seems silly to spend $450 for a study guide for it.
So are you applying for fall semester '08? I'm applying for this coming spring so if so then I'll be one semester ahead and can let you know what's coming!

Re: Indiana State University BSN students

Just some info for you guys needing cheap materials to help you study for the gen eds .

I have taken lots of CLEP and Dantes exams. I found the REA books (most of them) and Instacert a great help.

I always got my guides used on e-bay or half.com. NEVER pay full price!LOL!!
