Hi I'm in the state of NJ, currently an LPN and trying to find out how I can determine whether or not I need a lab with microbio with excelsior, and what happens if you take their course instead?

I'm not sure about the specific licensure requirements in NJ (check with the NJBON), but if you're looking at pursuing a BSN anywhere besides EC after graduation from the ASN program, it's probably best to take micro in a classroom setting with a lab.

Ask excelsior! That is the best and your going to get the most accurate information. THe micro issue isn't going to affect your ability to get a license in any state, it's the specifics about the nursing side of things.

If yourplanning on going farther than just an ADN then take a micro with a lab, that will get you farther in the long run. If your only planning on working as a staff nurse and going for the fasted way to get there, then you can get by with the test.

i did asn with exclesior and took their recommended micro...it didn't have a lab. passed with an A.
