I lived in NS for 7 years and would be happy answer any questions you may have about where to live, etc. Especially if you're thinking the Halifax area, there are good/bad places just like any other city.
But yes, even by Canadian standards property is ridiculously cheap in Nova Scotia.
Good luck SD. At least you are getting out & who knows you might stay in Canada. I hear its a beautiful country but I've never been.
Be sure to read 'The Tenderness Of Wolves' before you go, and of course 'Call Of The Wild'

dont blame you for going, if you wait to go to the usa, you will be too old to work at this rate anyway
good luck to you, your man and your furry babies xx
Have missed something RGN1 are you no longer commingto the states I thought you had a house here! - EN dont you even think about not comming to AZ I am here waiting for you!
Still letting the USA paperwork wend it's merry way through the ever so slow system but have to get outta here!! So going to Alberta in the meantime.
Although if I like it I may end up staying - can keep house as a holiday home, rent it out long term or sell it. We'll see, one thing I cannot do is wait here any longer because of the age of my eldest child, his education is important & the Canadian system is not dissimilar to that in the USA.
The way it's going he'll be in University before we even get a look in at our greencards!! Worse still he might even reach over 21 - which will exclude him from getting a greencard with the rest of us. So we needed a plan "B" -& we got one!
We have really great friends in Calgary & they helped me find a job & will assist with housing etc etc etc.
