Re: research to uk OLD NURSES : do you have old pictures of you hat and how to make i

Close to both the above - I trained 1989 - 1992. They phased out the student hats in 1992 and also the frilly staff nurse hats.

However, I went to work at another hospital in 1993 and had to wear the frilly hat for about another 4 years before they too phased them out.

I suspect that all those cardboard hats dated from the 80's .what happen to the really old nurses -like me with around 50years of nursing here and there-?
may be they are like me ,stugling with the computer?

keep the good work up thanks again ...
next time i will tell you what I will do with all thoe infos Fleury.
I trained in the 70's and ,apart from the first year hat,the others were cardboard or similar.

Re: research to uk OLD NURSES : do you have old pictures of you hat and how to make i

Hi. I started my training as a pupil nurse back in 1977. We wore just plain white hats that fastenend with a little removable stud at the back. Student nurses had stripes on their hats for the year they were in. I lived in the nurses home so used to send my white uniforms, hats and belts to be cleaned and starched. The dresses came back with creases all over them, but it didn't matter as they looked clean and clinical. When i qualified i tried sending my green dresses and they looked awful with the creases in. It took me ages to get them out, so had to wash them in the n. home's old washing machine if you could find it not already in use. Those were the days.
