A Sandwich program on Health and Social Care NVQ2 is being offered to foreign newly graduate nurses by Pyridion Academy, UK. Does anyopne here know how I could check the authenticity of this school as well as its officers?

I have never heard of this academy and to be honest don't think there is a way for you to remain in the UK once you have completed the course. NVQ is not really in high demand and there is plans from the government again to try and get people to go to work instead of claiming benefit

NVQ's and SVQ's--the scottish equivalant are usually taken by non registered nurses who work in the health care industry.
care assistants and nursing aides and people who work with adults with learning difficulties. so why would a registered nurse want to take this qualification?
I think maybe you have misunderstood what this qualification means.

Cariad, nurses from the Philippines normally, are so in demand in the US and that has been the number 1 destination. However, with retrogression Philippine nursing graduates are no where to go. Just today, Feb. 22, 2008, it is announced in the major newspaper that 28,924 pass the Philippine nurse licensure. Add to that graduates of last year (with almost the same number) you can just imagine the magnitude of un-employed nurses here. The most hit are the newly graduates. Hence, nurses go to the Middle East, United Arab Emirates for jobs. Why go to UK and just be a nursing aid or care assistant? Salary of nurses here in the Philippines ranges from PHP6,000/mo for newly graduates to PHP12,000/month for those with long year of experience (approximately GBP75 to 150 a month) and that is if one is lucky to get a job (many go on volunteer work just to gain experience). They believe that gaining an experience in UK even just as nursing aid, will give them better chances of being employed once they come back to the Philippines, ( also, the salary in UK as a nursing aid is much higher than that of nurses here in the Philippines. After deducting the living costs, they will come out still with savings ). This is while waiting for the time for US and other countries openning its door and accept nurses from the Philippines once again.

The issue I see though is getting a work permit to work in the UK is now very hard regardless on job as employers must employ citizen then EU before anywhere else in the world and if attending as a student you need to prove that you can support yourself as not always get permission to work. The government is going through a drive to get people off benefits and working so expect it to get worse

No NVQ is a national vocation qualification and has nothing to do with RN. The issue is if not from within the EU is finding an employer willing to help you get a work permit and currently most job adverts will say they will not help the only exception will be whether you have high experience in a certain role or experience in an area that is classed as in short demand. Even then the employer has to prove that they have not been able to fill job from withing UK/EU which at the moment could be very hard as many UK nurses are struggling to find work

No NVQ will not help you get a job and stay in the UK and I never said that it would. There is no shortage of carers in the UK and unless you are from the EU or UK you will find it very hard to get a work permit
