I don't want to put dampers on it for anyone but would hate for people to go through the process and then find that something is wrong and won't be accepted.

Can I ask how you managed to make the hours up in practical as usually supposed to be done the same time as theory?

Re: making up hours- you may be interested

I asked at the hospital that i work and i took two weeks annual leave and work for free in the maternity wing in labour, pre natal clinic, post and hoe visits. I just explained to the head of nursing that i was intrestedin see that side of nursing and was willing to spend some time just observing which is what the making up of hours involve. After I completed the ward Manager wrote to the uni specify that i had done two weeks observing and the areas covered. that was it. No bank for two weeks no playing up back to being a student it was good experience i should admit.

That is good if the hospital will allow. Can't see why you don't mention the University am sure if people are interested they can find contact details themselves

Re: making up hours- you may be interested

Hi everyone, I emailed Andy Worden at Staffs Uni and asked about a course that would enable me to gain paeds, mental health and obs/gyn eperience and he replied as follows (he gave me permission to quote him):
"Yes, I've seen the same message on the forum after being contacted about it by quite a number of people - I have asked if this can be removed or at least for it to be noted on the forum that this isn't the case as I recognise need for free speech and comment etc.
"I'm afraid the Faculty and hence University doesn't offer any such course - there have been a number of student nurses who have elected to undertake paeds/obs/MH experience during their elective/summer breaks to work in the US but theres no course for this unfortunately."
Disappointing but I'll keep looking into other options...
