Question Question? - Do you wear a wedder?

Sooooo, it is my hubby's and I 10th wedding anniversary soon, and I have chosen the excuse of I need a new ring so I can wear to work (eventually). My engagement/wedding rings are claw set, so no way I could get by wearing them. I have told him it has to be set in rub over type... (really, he would buy me the world if he could afford it )

Are their hospitals that flat out say no wedders to be worn? Could I wear something like a rub over?

Do you wear your wedding ring?

I wear my claw set engagement ring, and take it off if I have to be sterile. I have had no problems and no complaints.

What is a "rub over?"

I always wore my wedding ring while on duty.
Never wore my engagement or eternity rings though. They were tucked safely away at home.
My wedding ring is plain, smooth. No stones etc in it.

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!

I still remember our 10th and that was 23 years ago!

Re: Do you wear a wedder?

My wedding ring is a combination of my wedding ring and my engagement ring. Unfortunately my engagement ring broke a few years ago, so a jeweller embedded the diamond into my wedding ring.

I have always worn my wedding ring. I never wore my engagement ring. Think of the work nurses do; would you like your 'claw' diamond ring full of ick?

Re: Do you wear a wedder?

I don't wear one myself, because I'm not married

However, I think our hospital policy is that one plain wedding band may be worn.
Of course I see nurses wearing all manner of rings ...one wears a particularly large claw-set engagement ring. I cringe when I think of the infection control risk, and how easily that could scratch a baby or kiddies skin (work in paeds).

So my advice would be...a nice rubover setting or plain band...or get something super sparkly and gorgeous, and just wear when not at work!

A rub over is where the diamond is set into the band.. it is a smooth feeling....

I think she means a bezel setting or even a gypsy setting. Bevel has a band of gold around the stone. Gypsy is usually set right in the gold or whatever metal.
