I have an interview at the state psych center. I really have my hopes set on getting a position there, but I have NO idea what the pay will be like. I also have been offered a position in a county LTC facility and I do know what to expect there, so now I am trying to make a mental note before I interview at the state. Does anyone know what graduating LPNs make in a state psych facility? I live in upstate NY but would be interested in knowing about all over.

**I am hoping to work weekends evenings and/or nights, so if you know about diffs I would be interested in hearing about those too.

I just signed on in Twin Falls ID and and there are lots of jobs here the latest posting on the hospitals web site had 13 RN positions for new grads and several of my classmates just got hired on in Salt Lake City UT at LDS and University on their first interview. Sound like lots of jobs here. I did clinicals at IHC in Burley ID and I loved the hospital. I just didn't hear back from them soon enough.
Cost of living is low here, groceries are affordable and housing is deffinately cheaper here. I'm buying a 2000 sq. ft. house on 5 acres for $650 a month, but pay is lower. My starting wage is $18.78 an hour before diferentials.

In Tennessee, I make $17/hr as an LPN in private duty care ($18/hr on weekends).
If the RN pay isn't much more I will just stick with what I'm doing.

Hi all new to posting here, just wanted to say that I had so many questions in regards to Carrie12's post about the Akron hospital that paid $26/hr and paid off her student loans. I am just about to take my first RN job in Akron and that is not what I've come across. I hope she along with anyone else can give some info.

Sigh, I feel sort of underappreciated...granted I am a new nurse but $22/hr and that is with the differential for 7p-7a with no sign on bonus and no student loan help makes me so discouraged. I am told that this is the rate that all new RN’s make at this particular hospital.

Anyone out there, how have your experiences been at Akron City/Summa? Akron General? Or even Akron Children’s? I am really stressing about starting something now and would love your input. I feel like us newbies have to stick together so that we aren’t taken advantage of! Thanks

Hey New AkronRN,
The reason my starting rate is so high is because I will be working for the Va, the govt and I'm a vet myself. I had offers at Akron General they said they'd start me at 23/hr. I didn't reply and I recieved an email offering my tuition reimbursement. I am very tempted to take that position for the simple fact it's close, I would be on tele( I really want ED but tele's good enough for now), I also really like the nurse manager her name's Anabelle. The only thing is I don't like the idea of striking while I'm a nurse. Finally I think I would be stupid to pass up that much money and benefits.

Well anyway if you haven't accepted a position yet I would check out 4200 at AGMC. That seemed to me that the nurses worked well together and they had support from their nurse manager, which I feel is important. By the way that's not just my feeling they actually allowed me to talk to nurses on my own time, I had a really good feeling about this floor. It's not the same for all floors there.

No not ageny. I will work for the VA, I'm a vet so that brings up my wages plus I choose to work evenings.

Northern NJ - I was offered $23.00/hr. with benefits for RN in a Nursing home.

I make $26.28/hour where I work as a new graduate in Madison, WI. I also make $3 extra per hour on weekend, $1 extra per hour on all pm shifts, and $3 extra on all night shifts. I love it!!!

I feel stupid!!!!
Staring pay at my sothern IL hospital is 14.77 base New Grad 1.00 diff for 12 hr nights. Sure ICU/ER is higher but not by much if what I read is true. Can't move so I hope I get a good raise.
