CNS-diabetes?

I currently work in diabetes/hypertension research. I look forward to going back to school for my masters. Is anyone else on here a Diabetes CNS? Where do you currently work in? Where can I find an accredited online masters program? I know Graceland has a program. Do i need to obtasin CDE certification first?

Hello, BSNgrad2004,:Melody:

I am unaware of any CNS program with a speciality in diabetes. The CNS with whom I have contact have the CDE certification. If you become CNS you can have a focus on the diabetic patient. I suggest the CDE cert.

Re: CNS-diabetes?

I am a CNS in Diabetes management. I work in a hospital outpt setting directed by an endocrinologist. I have a masters in nursing with an adult health in illness focus. I graduated from Bloomsburg University of PA. My program allowed each student to study a particular area of concentation and mine was diabetes self management. I am a CDE but also hold the crediatial of BC APRN from nurses credentially center. I am board certified in advanced diabetes self managment at the masters level.

I am interested as well but I live in SW Florida. Am enrolling in USF N.P> program and would like to make diabetes the focus of my clinical practice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
