I would still be a nurse. It's in my blood.
But I would also have that nice country house with about 5-10 acres, and I would OWN a car that actually runs!

The big poweball winner from a week or two ago was from my hometown of Evansville, IN. My Dad usually buys a couple of Powerball tickets every week. My fingers couldn't dial the phone fast enough (I now live 300 miles away near Ft. Wayne) to see if I had a "Sugar Daddy." Dad's response to me was "no sweetheart it wasn't me. If it was, I would still be busy cleaning out my pants before I would be able to talk to you"...

Seriously, if I did when an $80 million dollar jackpot ($40 million after taxes ) this is what I would do.

1) Give notice to my employer that I would be working the shifts when, where, and how much I wanted.

2) Pay off our farm. Set my elderly FIL up for his remaining years (he is like 83 now). Pay off my parents' house, my sister's house, and my brother's house. Give some money to Grandma so she could live out her years not worrying about money. Set my kids up for life...

3) Give at least 10% to my church and various charities that are near and dear to my heart...

4) Take my family on the vacation of their lives...

It has been fun dreaming.....

If the money was as huge as 60 million, I know I wouldn't work period. If I tried, I know me, I would get frustrated on day and quit the next.

I would like to use my nursing skills however, in some sort of volunteer or charity work. Or maybe work the minimum number of hours the state requires to maintain my license, because you never know: a fool and his money soon goes separate ways.

HA! Would i work? HELL NO! Why would i? Now i may work PRN or something, but i'd like to think that me and myhusband could do some charity work in poor areas, under developed countries, etc....

As for the money........WELL i'd invest invest invest....then i'd go to Tahiti. And stay for about a month or so! I would have a nanny there for my kids and probably drink Mai Tai's on the beach and stay naked with my husband and get sun burned in places the sun has NEVER seen........... :eek

THEN i'd come back to the US, pay off ALL our debt, then buy a house in Wyoming in the mountains, buy a house either in Chicago or NYC, and probably buy a house in the Keys....Then i'd spend my time going back and forth between them shopping and lounging. OH and of course i'd pay off ALL my family's debts, and set my kids up for college.

And i'd buy a LOT of cool SUV's!!

I'd quit my job and get fat and happy (then have some hot trainer to come and whip me...into shape that is).

No. What I would do could be summed up in three words -- Habitat for Humanity.

I would only volunteer, when, where and how long I wanted.

I take measures to protect my privacy and quit ASAP. There are those out there who would seize the opportunity to try to file suit to get some of the action. I don't think I'd even tell the relatives ( my FIL is always coming up with silly business ideas).

Then I'd probably volunteer at the local animal shelter. Pay off everything and travel.

I would either buy a large peice of land and set up an animal sanctuary; or, look into buying a closed-down hospital and initiating a governing board of only nurses. If the doctors can do it, why can't nurses? Personally, I think this would make for a well run hospital that is patient-centered, without the phony customer service attitude brought in from those with business training and not a moment of patient care experience.
