Who is more highly regarded?

Around your hospital? PA's or ARNP's?

Re: Who is more highly regarded?

They are equally regarded in the hospital that I work in. I have personally never noticed a difference in the treatment either of them receive from other staff members.

Re: Who is more highly regarded?

Depends on the person/worker they are.

Some can be very charming but horrendous workers.
Some can be somewhat "standoffish" but their work is very thorough.
Some seem very "eager to please" and thus never get any concrete work done.
...

... and the list would go on. I don't think it matter to a person like me (surgical floot staff nurse) WHO/WHAT YOU are .... in as much as it matters "WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU DO?"

... and by "kind of work", I meant how good a "worker" you were....

cheers,

Re: Who is more highly regarded?

We don't have PA's.

So, all the accolades go to the NP's.

I like what Roy said - it really depends on each individual and how good a worker that individual is.

Fortunately we tend to judge by performance and professionalism. Neither is "better" than the other where I am.

Re: Who is more highly regarded?

Interesting question. Our hospital doesn't use NPs, and doesn't generally use PAs, either! I know of exactly one; if there's any more, they keep well hidden.

We're overrun by eager medical residents, so maybe that's the gap filler for the MDs!

Re: Who is more highly regarded?

They are equal in every hospital I've worked at.
