Re: What are the best days & shifts for moms?

Find what works for you. It's different for everyone. I work nights...and LOVE it. I sleep when the kids are at school.

I have a friend who went into home health. she works days/nights and is home with her family during the evening.

Re: What are the best days & shifts for moms?

I have been working nights 7p-7a 2-3x/wk. I have two girls, 14 and 6 and i get to be home to help with homework, dinner and kiss them goodbye. The 14 yo makes sure there in bed by 830pm. I get off work and the 14 yo helps the 6 yo ready for school the next day and I drive them to school and then hit the sheets. That's all a single parent can do with no family available to help.

Re: What are the best days & shifts for moms?

I work Monday through Friday from 6 to 2pm.

For 2 years, I worked weekend double shifts. This involved having Monday through Friday off, working two 16 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, and being paid for a full 40 hour week through my workplace. While I spent my entire weekend at work, I surely loved having the 5 days off in a row. Many of the parents enjoyed this shift, and couldn't ever see themselves going back to a 5 day schedule.

Re: What are the best days & shifts for moms?

nursing shifts are completely incompatible with daycare hours! its so frustrating.

i've been on nights for a year now, my daughter is fixing to be 3 and i am absolutely convinced it is ruining my life! ugh!

i used to work 6on/6off which wasn't so bad, but now i work 4on/2off so in nightshift parlance thats really 1 day off.

i'm interested in the answer to this question also. i really thought nights was my best shot, but with a kid and school, living off 5hrs of sleep a day is just not getting me anywhere
