LPN future RN ah yes, but I get to work in a jail, it's pretty dirty here. Black looks very sharp and I think I get more respect from the inmates, because of it. In white, they think you're easy to fool. Black seems to command a little more authority. (How many cops are in white??) But, I don't think I'd wear it in the hospital

Tom, are we to believe that you are a dirty old man? (just kidding)

I wouldn't wear white. Meconium stains, that's why we call some newborns, meconium stained. No thanks!! It may be OK for some units, but the bodily fluid flies in L&D. Vomit, urine, stool, amniotic fluid, blood, meconium stool (one infant aimed in my pocket), baby urine, formula....it's just too, too much.

Our facility did the color coded thing. Nurses, LPN and RN wore printed tops with teal pants (all exactly alike). We had to pay for them. Resp was purple, lab was another color, etc. Our hospital gave it up. Now everybody wears what they want as long as its scrubs. The poor pts can't read the badges. If they're not turned over, their print is too small to read. I liked the color coding. I wasn't too fond of the same thing every day, but I always knew where a new worker came from.
