I am a nurse who smokes. I quit for 15 months. I NEVER did quit wanting a cigarette. Never! During my brief lull from smoking I did not jump on the band wagon to get others to quit. We are in a stressful enough profession, no one needs any more added to our plate. I didn't become a nurse to be a role model. I became a nurse to help others, no matter who or what they were doing with their personal lives. I feel I deserve the same consideration. We pay enough sin taxes.........more than our fair share. I know the argument about adding to the high cost of health care. Come on. So you want to live to be 100 years old with Alzheimer's or some other related dementia, but your lungs with be good and have a nice healthy heart. That's something to look forward to.....let the state pay for your care for 20 years or better. what does that add up to in costs to the taxpayers...I work in LTC, I love what I am doing. There are worse things than smoking by licensed health care professionals to worry about.
