Nurses under 30, whats important to you?

Hi.
I am really interested in what you, as a "young" Nurse, value the most in employers. In other words, what motivates you to "hire on", and what are the things that would keep you there?
I've listed a few things to check, but if there is something I left out, please feel to comment.
Thanks you so much.
Harry

Am I too late? I looked for and took a job that will allow me to go part-time in a year max. I also wanted a night job. And close to home. So flexibility then schedule then location. Benefits & money really weren't an issue.

As an old nurse, I am not the target group for this survey... but I looked into the thread because I am interested in "listening and learning" what younger nurses had to say. I found it interesting that none of the possibilities on the included anything related to scheduling.

Also not on this list was anything about student loan repayment and/or significant tuition reimbursement for further formal education.

In my neck of the woods, the younger nurses are asking for these things.

Flexiability of schedule, health and dental benefits that are decent, retirement. While salary pays the bills, i can't work if i'm physically falling apart.

I have to agree with RNvampire on this. It would also be important to have nice coworkers and great benefits since I am not married yet and I depend on my own health insurence.

Re: Nurses under 30, whats important to you?

Most important to me are proximity, benefits, and pay. Other things I would consider include patient to nurse ratio, work hours, continuing education programs, staff attitude on the unit.
