How to go about finding a volunteer or paid position....

I apologize early if I am posting in the wrong place, I scanned and felt this place was appropriate. Anyway, I begin pre-reqs in the fall, and want a headstart learning and being in the setting, so I am looking for advice about where to work during my pre-reqs, if that is even possible, maybe volunteer or paid if possible. How do I go about deciding and then logistically speaking, contacting the right person for my job/position needs? Thanks in advance.

I'm also working on my pre-reqs and I'm going to volunteer this summer at a hospital that's nearby. I went on-line and searched for hospitals near my area, I visited some of their websites and looked for volunteering opportunities. I found the name of the hospital volunteer coordinator and the number where I can contact the person. I hope this helps.
