Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I do talk about it all the time but do not know if people at my current facility have checked it out. I have noticed that now I have been fortunate to have had an article selected that is highlighted, that they are starting to express interest in going in and reading the articles, and by being there, checking out all the specialty forums. I didn't realize that all the talking I did with the nurses in my previous place of work encouraged at least a couple of them to join, so I try to do my part in advocating AllNurses! Martha

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I am currently unemployed, but I talk about allnurses at school when I get the opportunity and believe me, the opportunity has come up quite a bit this semester.

All the time. I work a 12 night shift and always take the opportunity to sing the praises of "allnurses.com". I find out that many of my co-workers enjoy it also.

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

Let's see... I've told my roommate about it (she's a member here now). and I told my DON and ADON about it, and I've spread the word to my fellow student nurses. And I've passed the site on to some people on a non-nursing board that I read.

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

Sorry, Brian but I cannot help you get the word out...I guess I am selfish !!! No, really, I think of this site as my own private space to vent, give my honest opinion, and get some really good advice !!!
I post so much that someone from where I work would definately pick up on me and identify me !!! I work in a small hospital and the gossip runs like water.....it never stops...I try to stear clear of it.....
So I am sorry, but do not ever mention this site.....

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I voted "no" since I've never told a co-worker (and wouldn't tell most people at my old job, use this place to vent). However, allnurses does get discussed sometimes at nursing school. There are a couple of us from my class that post on here.

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

Yes, I talk about this site a lot and have signed in at work and shown people. I know I have gotten a few people interested. However, not everyone is as intrigued or drawn into this medium, I have found, as those of us who visit daily or many times a day....

I will continue to be a huge advocate for this site. I have learned so much from others and have been sooo incredibly empowered here. Love, love, love this site!!!

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I've had coworkers mention it to me. And then when I asked their AN identity, they shied from answering and we both agreed to remain anonymous. As many on this thread have already stated, there comes a great relief as well as emancipation to being able to vent, share, discuss...etc...without fear of reprisals or recrimination.

So although I use a pseudonym for myself and my safety and security, I still share the identity of the site.

Chloe

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I don't.
And I am a little embarrased to say this!

but last night, my husband came in from work and he said do you know "...." (all nurses screen name) and I said "no"

and then he said "he said that he knew you from all nurses.com"

and I was so embarrased.
I posted where my husband and I worked, and someone asked him "does your wife work at ........?" and he said "yes" and then this someone asked "does she go to all nurses.com" and he said "yes"

then the other nurse that was with that someone starts laughing, and then my husband said "it's a small world!"

I am just so embarrassed!

beware of what you type and the info you say!
and I don't even have my name as part of my sn!

Re: Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

I see how it could become addicting. I have asked at work about it but no one said they had ever heard of all nurses. I learned about allnurses from a friend of my parents who is an RN.
