Re: Poet Girl

PoetGirl.. have you checked your states Board of Nursing website to see if you have an active or pending licence?? That's how I found out so quickly. Its public information in NH at least. You just put in a persons name to see if they are licensed. They usually get them up there before pearson vue gets back to you on your results.

But not the common ones like dig, or lithium or lasix, etc, but some obscure stuff! I know I failed. I walked out of the testing center in a dazed state of shock. I didn't know what the heck just happened. I couldn't find the parking garage to get my car. When I finally got in my car I started balling. I called my mom and just sobbed all the way home. I am utterly convinced that I choked and failed.

Of course I have poured over my review books for the answers to every questions I can remember. I have checked the pearson site a tons of times, checked my state bon website. I am sick to stomach and can't sleep!

Tomorrow I am supposed to go and finish all my new hire paperwork and get my ID, etc for my dream job in the cardiac surgical ICU of a huge university hospital. How can I do that when I know I failed the test????

At least all the posts make me feel like I am not alone. No matter what I can still take the exam again! What doesn't kill us makes us stronger they say. If that is true I am gonna be able to lift a semi-truck with my bare hands on Friday when I check the results(especially if I failed)!
lol,you are amazing- I guess that's a good way to look at it - the truth is, once you have taken the exam there is really nothing else that you can do - it's pointless to sit around and mourn.... I know, easier said than done! but it is true though.

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

I passed with 75 questions on my first try at the NCLEX-RN. I left feeling good about it, spent the weekend psyching myself out that I had failed, and found out Saturday afternoon that I had passed.

I had no OB questions, 12 SATA, 1 peds question, no ortho (which I was terrified about, cause I don't know it at all), tons and tons of prioritization and infection control questions. Also, one put in order question.

Like Poetgirl, my drug ones were obscure drugs, and my infection control questions were lagely obscure conditions I hadn't heard of since I used to play Oregan Trail when I was little.

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

Just found out that I passed!!! Can't believe it. Totally convinced myself I had failed with 30+ SATA!

CSICU here I come. Good luck to everyone still waiting for results and those waiting to test! God bless.

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

I passed with 75 but I would't have bet on it when I walked out the door. I then reasoned that the calculation was hard enough that I should have more like that if I hadn't done it correctly. I then knew I got some others wrong. Nothing can prepare you for the waiting.

What really helped was getting there early and overhearing the manager advise the test monitor to speak very slowly and in a low voice (with good eye contact) because people are so nervous. I kept telling myself "low and slow" while my heartbeat pounded in the headphones.

It worked.

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

I can't believe how obscure those questions were. I don't feel that the NCLEX evaluated my competency, but instead my ability to recall very random facts that are largely irrelevant. I also had the test shut off at 75 and am convinced that I failed. I find out tomorrow. We'll see. I got about 15 SATA, 24 med questions, and several infection control questions. The truth is that I'm a great student, a very competent new nurse and that I just can't imagine that they could prove my incompetence in 75 questions. Wish me luck!

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

I took my Nclex yesterday, and I feel incredibly sick over it. It shut off at 75. I was in total and utter shock. I had a good amount of drugs I never heard of. That was fun. I had six math. Again fun, I was so nervous, I forgot how to do one, and ofcourse, they repeated the question with different numbers. The highlight of my exam were the 20 or so SATA. Needless to say I left there quite ill. My friend and I took it together and she told me I looked like I was about to die. Clearly that is what I feel like right now. I could not sleep last night. I have no idea how I will make it until tommorrow. I am going to drive everyone I know nuts until I find out. Naturally my friend got lucky, no math, no select all that apply, and 1 drop and drag. Ugggh! Why couldnt I be that lucky?

Re: 75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?

Okay, so my story sounds very similar to a lot of your stories. By the 6th question I was getting harder questions and feeling pretty good about it remembering that this is computer adaptive, so it is SUPPOSED to get hard when you are doing well! But then I was getting one hard SATA after another, and I starting thinking that there is no way I am getting any of these right....so how on earth could I be getting 50% right 50% wrong? I was being asked to click all of the symptoms of a disease I had never even heard of! I ended up getting 25 SATAs!!! No math, lots of priorities, one delegation, and the kicker was towards the end..the questions started getting easier! By the end they were asking me basic nursing assessment skill questions and I was FREAKING OUT. And to top it off, after completing one of those easy ones, I realized I had missed it! And then I realized I had missed the last question! I left the place almost in tears and cried for hours, totally disappointed and in utter shock. The test was nothing like I had been trained for. I had done a bizillion practice question, but this real test was totally different! I continued to check the CA Board's website about every hours for two days (minus the 4-5 hours of sleep I got). I seriously have never been so neurotic about anything like this before. I even managed to remember 59 of the 75 questions to try and figure out if I got them right and what level question they were...I was going nuts. Anyways, I just found out this morning that I passed!!!!! I had 75 questions...
