Yeah, I agree - and I don't understand the notion tax breaks are handouts. It is OUR money we get to keep, not the governments and not my neighbors.

You will actually have to provide proof that, "these folks are not asking you or me for a darn dime..." for ANY sake. And hearsay and/or media reporting is NOT proof.

As for the religious angle? There are two sides to everything; but many of my Mormon friends simply do not have either the desire, nor the funds (as I alluded to previously) to have a larger family than, say four...

However, using "God" as an excuse for a decision YOU make is in poor taste.

Did they expect God to send them a email with a specific number of children on it? How is it God was supposed to notify them? This is a very large cop-out.

God gave humanity free will in order for us to take the lessons (hopefully learned) from the Bible and apply them sensibly and responsibly to everyday life.

He did not create us to be sheep.

This subject was hot when it came up last time, with the 17th kid.

I too agree with you - size of the family doesn't matter. I know plenty of people with one or two kids who abuse them. We had a lovely curly blonde hair little girl in the ER last year whose loving mom kicked her in the WalMart parking lot. Fortunately police were called. This mom had TWO kids.

Quality time . . .

Im sure they get paid a nice amount of money for this and that makes them all the less likely to be needing any of our taxpayer money.

God also said "Be fruitful and multiply".

Gosh, I am always amazed at how vehement people are when this subject comes up.

Should we complain about the Idol participants? Or the people in Oprah's audience who get cars? Or the winner of Jeopardy? Or the author of an autobiography? Or the maker of a true life movie?

Why get mad at people who make money telling a story??

Just because there are women who abuse their children doesnt mean that hording several kids makes it ok.

You know, dog owners who keep their dogs outside all the time get treated terribly in my neighborhood. They threaten to 'take them to the humane society' and 'call the pound' on them.

But they are being fed, cared for, loved, well adjusted.....and they are animals!

For the kids, a roof over the head, food on the table, clothes, TV show.......so what? It doesn't make up for quality time-at all!

ingelein-sorry for the terrible assumption...

Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

So how old do you think she is? She could "concievably" have sveral more children, and we can have a few more arguments over this.

Oh, I'm sure too. I don't care about the taxpayer issue/non issue...

Because they don't believe in TV and the children are not allowed to watch TV and they do not own a TV. Seems inheirtly wrong to make money off of something you don't believe in for yourself or your children. IMO
