Yes, they are. Again, without tax breaks, etc., ad nauseum, they would not be able to do this.

If it were me, I would want so much precious one on one time with my baby. But then again, this isn't about me...

Hmmm...I don't know what you mean by this one. Is this anger over our last few conversations lately? Because if so that really sucks.
Absolutely not, I am sorry that you are having difficulty having children, I am not that mad ,I would never say such a thing knowing this about you, really.I hope and pray that you are blessed with a child or several for that matter.

Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

I believe someone mentioned this already, but how much time and attention are those children really getting from their parents?? The older ones are "helping" to take care of the younger ones, on top of their chores. Don't get me wrong, having some responsibility is a good thing, but to me it goes a little too far with this family. Are any of those kids truly enjoying their childhood vs. being forced to grow up to "help" raise their siblings?

I agree - and the size of the family has nothing to do with how good the parents are.

And 18 kids vs. how many billion on the Earth . . . that cannot make any extra impact.

I ask we PLEASE be very careful with the comments about who is "meant" to be parents or not. People reading and discussing the subject are clearly heated on the topic and some unable to have children. Remember, the comments you make may be extremely hurtful when you may not mean to be.

Keep focused on the subject and do not make this personal.

Thank you and enjoy the boards.

Not true. It's everyone's business because they chose to show it on TV.

In the words of my CPA friend:

"15 of the 18 are under 18. That's $15,000 in tax credits plus $59,500 in 17 total exemptions plus $10,900 in the standard deduction.
By my rough calculations they'd have to earn over about $165,000 before they'd pay one cent in federal income tax."

I am a good citizen, too. My husband and I chose to not have children for many reasons, but one of the big reasons is that we feel there are too many people already putting too much of a strain on this planet. I don't get any tax breaks whatsoever for my ecological concern. We don't make anywhere NEAR 165 K and pay plenty in taxes every year.

And yes, I'm a little testy about it.
I'm curious as to how you think you know their income. Tax brakes are not handouts. Unless you renounce your federal and state deductions for mortgage interest, educational expenses, healthcare costs, charitable donations, local and property taxes, you are every bit as much on the "dole"as they are.

Maybe we should all quit "paying your way" for the lifestyle you have chosen.

Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

Like I said before I don't think it's any of our business but since it was brought up we all have opinions and I have mine.

I think its inheirtly wrong that while they don't believe in nor allow TV in their home they are using those exact means to make money.

Apparently they are both licensed real estate agents and claim to be 100% debt free.

What I meant by that is the mothers who ABUSE their children are probably not meant to be mothers, yikes, I did not mean to turn this in another war.My apologies for my thoughtless comment it was NOT meant to be for women who cannot have children.
