Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

The children are polite, well behaved and exited about each new sibling. The family is intact and they are not on welfare. If they choose to have, support and raise many children it is their business. Why is OK to have a Gay Parade in front of a Cathedral on Easter Sunday but not OK for nice stable couple to have as many children as they can support?

Those poor children. They barely have minimal special time with their parents. What kind of childhood is that?
Some women are just MEANT to be mothers, others aren't and for good reason. She has a right to have as many children as she sees fit as long as they are all loved and they seem to have a lot of that.

Because they are not supporting them on their own. We're paying a rather huge chunk of it.

In the words of my CPA friend:

"15 of the 18 are under 18. That's $15,000 in tax credits plus $59,500 in 17 total exemptions plus $10,900 in the standard deduction.
By my rough calculations they'd have to earn over about $165,000 before they'd pay one cent in federal income tax."

I am a good citizen, too. My husband and I chose to not have children for many reasons, but one of the big reasons is that we feel there are too many people already putting too much of a strain on this planet. I don't get any tax breaks whatsoever for my ecological concern. We don't make anywhere NEAR 165 K and pay plenty in taxes every year.

And yes, I'm a little testy about it.

Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

The pastor of my church is one of 14. I have a feeling they are Catholic! I sure couldn't do it. But, I will try to watch that on Discovery channel. I think that it would be interesting to see how they manage.

I bet these kids will do great things. I believe they were born for a reason. God Bless them all!

I've seen them on Discovery Health. Didn't realize they lived in Ky. They make it seem so wonderful. Mom home schools. Who's paying for college? They are mormons BTW.

Can I pick them all?

Seriously, this does border on cat collecting, in my humble opinion. We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

It seems to me that are raising 18 good citizens. 18 persons persons with a sense of hard work and financial responsibility.

Re: Woman expecting her 18th child

It's obviously no one's business but their own but I don't think it's fair to the children. Think about your own life. Playing with your sister or brother, going on a family vacation, playing in the back seat of the car, spending special time at the grandparents, date with Dad.....
