I am far from a goodie two shoes but I have never driven 80 MPH. That seems so fast, most I have done is somewhere be 70 and 75 while passing. One time I yelled at my daughter for doing 80, she slowed down, did not realize how fast she was going.

Well.....I've only driven up to 120MPH, but I had some good reasons:
- the sun was shining
- the road (I75 south) was clear of pesky troopers and other drivers
- My WRX wanted to "play"

Normally, though, I drive a safe & reasonable speed. Now that might be a bit over the posted speed limits, mind you, but here in Ohio you've got to watch your speeds. Lots of police running laser, Ohio State Patrol "Pigs In Space" (circling overhead clocking motorists from Cessna or helicopter).

Like many things in life, it's a balancing act. Don't drive like an utter fool, whipping in & out of traffic, but move at a reasonable pace.

As to the topic of your original post (Governors' Need for Speed), I think you see the same tendency with many police officers (on or off duty). That magic badge is a free pass from the risk of most speeding tickets.

I am so guilty of being a lead-foot. I think I'm generally safe, but I like the speed.

Guilty... guilty... guilty.

Me too . . . . my husband calls me "Mario" . . . .

I've definitely gone over 80, especially on the mountain roads with no other cars and even less CHP officers. . . my son regularly drives that fast in So. Cal on the freeways . . .anything less and you are left in the dust.

I know it is wrong . . .
