Re: State of California Investigating Dr. Phil

I thought it was incredibly tacky and unprofessional for him to go on national television and let everyone and their brother know what was said. I certainly hope he didn't pull this kind of crap when he was licensed.

It's almost like he was using her to push him more into the limelight. I don't like Britney, but I don't think it's right for people to exploit her either.

He should've kept his mouth shut.

Dr Laura is mean and self-rightous, in my opinion. She's so darned full of herself it's nauseating.

Almost every day a caller tells her the same thing . . that they used to feel that way. Today a caller said her grandma gave her one of Dr. Laura's books when she was 18, 10 years ago. She put it on a shelf and never read it because she thought exactly what you said.

Now she respects her.

I am NOT saying you will change your mind. It was just funny that today there was a caller like that.

Dr. Laura and Dr. Phil are both tough on folks - in a "tough love" sort of way.

Dr. Laura just gave a good example to a step-mom whose stepdaughter is mourning the loss of her bio-mom - who is moving away. Take a balance scale and put small piece of manure on one and then add a candy kiss on the other for every good thing she can think of about her life. The good things will out weigh the bad and allow her to realize that she is blessed. And cannot change her bio-mom.

Dr. Phil just seems like he needs attention . . the limelight.

Agree with you, steph.

I miss listening to Dr. Laura. Cannot get her down here.

If you go to her website, you can hear her on the computer. That is what I do. We don't have a station way up here in the mountains.

They both annoy me.
I'm not saying people never need tough love.
I'm just saying that if anyone ever talked to me the way either one of them talk to people on air/TV, I would not listen. It seems like they both say things so that people listening will think they're oh-so-clever.

Exactly. Incidentally, I used to be a huge fan of Dr Laura, so I'm well acquainted with her show. Yes, she's right about lots of things, but she will just unbraid some hapless person, say for needing to work outside the home, or a single mother who is dating. I remember her laying into some struggling woman whose mother-in-law was going to provide childcare, God Forbid!

And then she would have the nerve to brag about how she loves to shop! Grrrr!

She went easy on the single Dads though, but she would really lay into the single Moms.
