Oh nooooooo, not another by-by syndrome death. This happens to about 200 children in the US a year. Usually it is a SUV.(another 7000 are injured) Not to long ago we were talking about a Congressman that backed over his grandchild. So many children are killed like this that it was given a name, "by-by syndrome". Usually the child runs out for one last good by and is backed over. They did a whole show on either 60 minutes or 20/20 about it. My sympathy to the family, especially the youngster that was driving the SUV.

I saw that show . . .. I remember at the end they showed a guy in, I think a Suburban, checking his mirrors and seeing no children. The cameras showed his viewpoint. Then they went to the back and there were . . . what, 25 kids . . .something crazy like that. But you could not see them.

That made a huge impression on me . . .I get out of my car, walk around the back and look every time I back up now.
