I find this interesting. There must have been some evidence we didn't know about. Otherwise I don't see a judge letting those detectives after firing 51 shots at the guy.

I agree with the family, it's like they killed this young man all over again.

For those who have no concept of guns, let me assure you, 51 bullets are a lot.
Not for an AK47, but for other types of guns, a lot.

Something is rotten here.

Milwaukee police officers were aquitted of beating a Milwaukee man at the municipal level, then the feds brought federal charges against the police, several were found guilty and are spending many years in jail.Several more were fired from the PD.

Jude case shows federal role
FBI, U.S. attorney succeeded where police, state prosecutors failed
By JOHN DIEDRICH
Posted: March 2, 2008

They said Milwaukee police couldn't be trusted to investigate their own, the district attorney worked too closely with the department to do the job, and the city's Fire and Police Commission just shipped complaints back to police.

But the federal Frank Jude beating trial demonstrated a lesser-known but powerful option in pursuing civil rights complaints against local police: the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office.
Hopefully the feds can step in here too and see to it that justice is served.

don't know the particulars but i did hear that they chose to have a judge to hear the case rather than a jury because the legal details would speak to a judge where they would work the other way with
a jury
prayers for the family

Agree with barefoot, think something is up here.
I am normally very supportive of police officers, as I am friends with a few.
However, I don't support the use of excessive force - and I think 51 shots is excessive force.

...Jude's attorney, Jonathan Safran, said one of the lessons he took from the federal Jude trial was the power of the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office to get the truth when police internal affairs and the district attorney could not.
"I think there is a little bit of distance there, which is helpful," Safran said of the FBI. "They have the clout to get around the code of silence."...

...
Lenard Wells, a retired Milwaukee police officer who spent 27 years on the job, said all the agencies with the duty to investigate Milwaukee police, including the FBI, are too close to do the job.
"They work with Milwaukee Police Department on a daily basis," Wells said. "How can you can turn around and investigate that group? You can't."...
