No Charge Over Fetus Found On Airplane

I am still shocked that you can't tell you are preggers. Unless you weigh 400 pounds.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Police in Houston say a 14-year-old girl who delivered a stillborn fetus in an airliner restroom on her way back from a middle-school field trip will not be charged with any wrongdoing.. . . . .

Good - that made me really sad that they might go after her for something she clearly didn't intend and handled the only way she knew how.

Poor girl. Young teenagers do not have the same thought processes that adults do.

I feel bad for her and the baby. No one is going to win.

And what the heck is a 14 yo doing having sex anyway? At that age I didn't even understand how you got pregnant!

My 12 year old sister got asked for sex by her boyfriend last summer. At least she had the good sense to be grossed out by it.

At 14, you are still a baby yourself. My mom laments that little girls are not allowed to be little girls anymore.....

That is sad - you've barely been on the earth for 14 short years and you have to deal with this.

Kids are growing up in a very different world.

Parents have a big job trying to teach them values that will that
will see them through all of the confusing messages that they are
being bombarded with in this culture.

They need mature and compassionate guidance more than ever.
Too bad that they can no longer just be kids, but have been taking
on sexual roles that they are not ready for. It is very sad.

Re: No Charge Over Fetus Found On Airplane

I'd guess a lot of 14 yo's have not had enough experience with menstrual cycles to always be aware a pregnancy has occurred. I'd have had no idea--of course I wasn't having sex either.

Poor little girl. That must have been a devastating experience for her. I can't even imagine. I wonder how far along she was.

I'm glad they aren't charging her, but I would like to see her in counseling.

A few years ago, I had a mom bring her 5 year old daughter in to the clinic for a rash on her upper thighs. She had on lilac satin panties. I said "Oh, good, you put her bathing suit on her so I could look!" (Little kids are often modest and don't want a stranger seeing their underwear, and there's nothing wrong with that).

She replied "Oh, no, those are her sexy panties!"

I am sure I just gaped at her. It shocked my socks off.

The word "sexy" doesn't belong anywhere near a five-year-old. Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind to tell her so.

Now that mom I don't understand. It's hard to find clothes these days for kids that aren't belly-baring or have offensive statements on them, but boy, worth the trouble. When this mom is a grandma in another 9 years, that may come back to haunt her. Sigh.
